Letha Adams Cook
CHERAW – Letha Adams Cook, 75, died December 18, 2007. A funeral service was held December 21 at Miller-Rivers-Caulder Funeral Home Chapel with burial in Chatham Hill Memorial Gardens.
Cook, born in Chesterfield County, was a daughter of the late Walter and Annie Ratliff Adams. She was a retired Medical Technician.
She was preceded in death by husband Robert E. Cook; son Jerry Cook; daughter Judy Nosser Williams; brothers Rev. Bill Adams and Ray Adams; sister Carolyn Lukatch.
Surviving are son James Cook of Patrick; daughters Sue (Mike) Johnson of Chesterfield; Betty (Jeff) Outlaw of Winchester, Va. and Lisa (Wayne) Corbettt of Myrtle Beach, S.C.; brother Carson (Teresa) Adams of Chesterfield; sisters Katherine Bowers of Wadesboro, N.C., Kay (Weslie) Pratt of Hartsville, S.C., Faye Sellers of Maiden, N.C. and Jill Quick Thomas of Marietta, Ga.; sisters-in-law Linda Adams of Maiden, N.C. and Peggy Adams of Chesterfield; brother-in-law Kenny Lukatch of Warren, MI; 15 grandchildren and four great grandchildren.

PAGELAND - Clevis Tommy Clyburn, 57, died December 15, 2007 at CMC-Union, Monroe, N.C. A funeral service was held December 19 at Chambers Grove Baptist Church, Marshville, N.C. with burial in church cemetery.
Clyburn, born in Chesterfield County, was a son of Lillian Louallen and Cletus Doster. He was a member of Chambers Grove Baptist Church and served as Deacon and Superintendent. He loved fishing, singing and hunting.

The Rev. James A. ‘Bud’ Rogers Sr
MONROE, N.C. – The Rev. James A. “Bud” Rogers Sr, 80, died December 19, 2007 at home. A funeral service was held December 21 at Back To Bethel Baptist Church with burial in Lakeland Memorial Park.
Rogers, born in Rowan County, was a son of the late Jackson J. and Ollie L. Trexler Rogers. He was a retired Baptist Minister having served in the following churches as Pastor; West Park Baptist Church, Rockwell, N.C., Central Baptist Church, Indian Trail, N.C., Hornesboro Baptist Church, Pageland, S.C. and was the founder of Back to Bethel Baptist Church.
He was preceded in death by brother Frank Rogers; sister Edna Whitley.
Surviving are wife of 58 years Jacqueline Joines Rogers; sons Rev. James “Sonny”(Cathy) Rogers, Chip (Stephanie Huggins) Rogers, Mark (Karen) Rogers all of Monroe, N.C.; daughters Sandy (Marty) Helms of Monroe, N.C. and Elaine (Lonnie) Plowman of Richfield, N.C.; 15 grandchildren and 16 great grandchildren; brother Rev. CHESTERFIELD – David William Teal, 42, died December 19, 2007. A graveside service was held December 22 at Westfield Creek Baptist Church cemetery.
Teal, born in Chesterfield, was a son of the late William Leonard “Buddy” Teal and Kathryn Lewis Teal Fulton. He was a graduate of Chesterfield High School, an electrical lineman and auto mechanic. He was a member of Westfield Creek Baptist Church.
Surviving are sister Robin Lynn Fulton of Chesterfield; stepsisters Kim Fulton of Mt. Croghan and Donna Rivers of Lancaster, S.C.; stepfather Lee Fulton of Chesterfield; aunts Betty Joe Lewis Teal of Chesterfield, Maude Gulledge of Ruby and Ella Woodward of Kershaw; uncles Jerry (Cathie) Lewis of Cheraw and Billy (Lenora) Lewis of Chesterfield; numerous cousins including special cousin Jean Teal (Steve) Treadaway of Patrick.

The Rev. Billy H. Ennis
RUBY - The Rev. Billy H. Ennis, 78, died December 13, 2007. A funeral service was held December 16 at Miller-Rivers-Caulder Funeral Home Chapel with burial in Cross Roads Baptist Church cemetery.
Ennis born in Marion, N.C., was a son of the late Jonas Sidney and Mary Vess Ennis. He was a minister with United Faith Ministries and a former construction worker. He enjoyed his nursing home ministry. He was a U.S. Navy Veteran and was a member and chaplain with American Legion Post 134.
He was preceded in death by first wife, Juanita W. Ennis.
Surviving are wife Annie O’Neal Ennis; son Ricky Ennis of Milwaukee, WI; daughter Vivian (Charles) Oliver of Chesterfield; stepsons Rev. Lula Mae Tyson Blakeney
MT. CROGHAN – Lula Mae Tyson Blakeney, 86, died Dec. 3, 2007 at CMC-Union. A funeral service was held Dec. 6 at Gum Spring Baptist Church with burial in the church cemetery.
Blakeney, born in Chesterfield County, was a daughter of the late Esau and Dora Blackwell Tyson. She was a faithful member of Mt. Harmon Baptist Church who was active on the Usher Board, Choir and Missionary. She was co-founder of the Tyson-Blackwell Family Reunion and held the position of President for over 35 years.
She was preceded in death by husband James F. Blakeney; four brothers and two sisters.
Surviving are sons Joe Blakeney of Washington,D.C. and Billy Blakeney of Mt. Croghan; daughter Valeria (Mickey) Baker of Mt. Croghan; brother John Davis Tyson of Mt. Croghan; two children she raised Terry (Ralph) Gladden of Chester, S.C. and Alex Watson of W. Columbia, S.C.; seven grandchildren and ten great grandchildren; many nephews, nieces, cousins, other relatives and dear friends.

JEFFERSON - Sidney Elizabeth Butler, 68, died Dec. 7, 2007 at her residence. A graveside service was held Dec. 11 at Lakeland Memorial Park Mausoleum, Monroe, N.C. Butler, born in Wytheville, Va., was a daughter of the late William and Ellen Frances Smith Jackson.
She was preceded in death by husband Charles A. Butler; son James Woods. PAGELAND - Booker T. Choplin, 60, died Dec. 8, 2007. A funeral service was held Dec. 11 at Union Hill Missionary Baptist Church with burial in the church cemetery.
Choplin, born in Pageland, was the son of the late Eugene and Carrie Chambers Choplin. He was a graduate of Petersburg High School and was employed by Tyson Foods in Monroe, N.C. He was a faithful member of Union Hill Missionary Baptist Church, Pageland. He sang with the male choir as well as doing whatever the church needed.

Curtis, born in Chesterfield, was a daughter of the late Dollie Aline Eddins Adams. She attended Guilford Technical College and was an Artist.

Keith, born in Bennettsville, S.C., was a daughter of David and Louise Moore and the late Janie Florence Watson Glisson. She was a homemaker and a member of Edwards Chapel Baptist Church.
She was preceded in death by husband Thomas Harvey Keith; son Jessie Dale Keith; daughter Martha Geneva Keith; brother Ronald Moore; sister Diane Moore.

RUBY – Hunter McBride, 87, died Dec. 3, 2007. A funeral service was held at Rock Spring Missionary Baptist Church with burial in the church cemetery.
McBride, born in Chesterfield County, was the son of the late Marshall and Daisy McNair McBride. He was a faithful member of Rock Spring Missionary Baptist Church. He served on the trustee board and was a member of the senior choir. He served in the armed forces during World War II.
He was preceded in death by daughter Bonnie Sue Thomas and son Devoid Melton. Surviving are daughter Annie Sue Thomas of Cheraw; son Albert McBride of Ruby; daughter in spirit Redessa Myers of Ruby; 13 grandchildren, 38 great grandchildren and five great-great grandchildren.

Tucker born in Chesterfield, was a son of the late Barksdale and Lila Mae Lewis Tucker. He was a Warehouse Manager with W.F. Harris Lighting, Inc. He was a member and past Master of Cherryville Lodge 505, member of Cherryville Shrine Club and member of the Oasis Shrine Temple in Charlotte, N.C. He was a member of Trinity Baptist Church.
He was preceded in death by brother Junior Dale Tucker.

PAGELAND - Therlo Simpson Wadsworth, 98, died Dec. 2, 2007 at the Chesterfield County General Hospital, Cheraw. A funeral service was held Dec. 6, 2007 at Grandview Presbyterian Church with burial in Chesterfield Community cemetery.
Wadsworth, born in Anson County, N.C., was a son of the late Augusta and May Bell Stanley Wadsworth. He retired from General Motors in Alexandria, Va.; he also served in the United States Navy and was honorably discharged. He returned to Cheraw and resumed his membership at Grandview Presbyterian Church, Chesterfield where he remained an active Elder. He moved to Pageland in 2007 and attended Pageland Second Presbyterian Church. His Masonic affiliations included being a Past Master of Acacia Lodge #32, Alexandria, Va., King Cyrus Royal Arch, Virginia Jurisdiction, Past Potentate of Magna Temple #3 Alexandria, Va. and Albahr Temple #178 Camden, S.C.
He was preceded in death by sisters Idell Byrd and Sarah Taylor; brothers Roy, James, Bill and Henry Wadsworth.
Surviving are wife of 64 yrs. Hattie Walker Wadsworth; sister-in-law Sarah Wadsworth of Los Angeles, CA and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

Hamilton ‘Hamp’ Benenhaley Jr.
CHESTERFIELD - Hamilton “Hamp” Benenhaley Jr., 76, died Dec. 3, 2007 at his home. A funeral service was held Dec. 5 at St. Paul United Methodist Church with burial in Chesterfield cemetery.
Benenhaley, born in Dalzell, S.C., was a son of the late Hamilton and Harriet Lowery Benenhaley. He attended Clemson College and was an active member of IPTAY. He was in the insurance business for 30 years, as an agent and manager, and retired with Life of Georgia. He was a U.S. Army veteran and was a former member of the S.C. National Guard. He was a member and past Master f the Chesterfield Masonic Lodge 220, a former member of the Chesterfield Town Council and had been active in Dixie Youth Baseball. He was a member and former Trustee of St. Paul United Methodist Church.
He was preceded in death by nephew Tim McElveen.
Surviving are wife of 50 years Martha Ballard Benehaley; sons Monty Benenhaley of Warner Robbins,GA and David (Robin) Benenhaley of Midland, N.C.; daughter Cindy (Tom) Rochester of Cornelius, N.C.; sister Clara (Legrand) McElveen of Bishopville, S.C.; eight grandchildren Haley, Drew and Gray Rochester, Derek, Grant, Jared, Wesley and Allie Benenhaley; nephew Sam (Donna) McElveen of Lugoff, S.C.

She was born in Monroe, N.C. and was the daughter of Jimmy and Miranda Massey Chambers. She attended Central High School where she was a tenth grade student. She loved singing, preaching, laughing, and loved her family.

She was born in Cheraw a daughter of the late Rosia Nevel Linton and Margaret Aycock Linton Davis. She attended Chesterfield-Marlboro Technical College and was a retired nursing assistant. She was a charter member of Forest Pine Free Will Baptist Church. She was preceded in death by brother Ricky Linton. Surviving are husband Bud Sims;

Blackmon, born in Bennettsville, S.C., was a daughter of Debbie Faye Pope of Cheraw and Jimmy Laverne Blackmon, Jr. of Georgetown, S.C.

PAGELAND – William Leroy “Roy” Clark, 86, died Nov. 24, 2007 at Lancaster Convalescent Center. A funeral service was held Nov. 27 at First Presbyterian Church with burial in Salem cemetery. Clark, born in Pageland, was the son of the late Clayton and Lou Clark. He was a retired textile supervisor of Springs Industries for 33 years. He was a member of First Presbyterian Church, also a member of Salem Presbyterian Church where he served as an elder and deacon.
He was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Evelyn Sikes Clark.

Short, born in Chesterfield County, was a son of the late Nathaniel and Hattie Chapman Short. He was a member of New Zion Baptist Church and served as Sunday School Superintendent, President of Baptist Training Union. He served on the Trustee Board, Usher Board, Choir, Deacon and Chairman of the Deacon Board. He served in the United States Navy from 1943-1946 on the Patrol Bombing squad in South Pacific. He was a Mason of the Forest Dale Lodge #476, an Eastern Star member of the Forest Dale Chapter #379 and a member of the American Legion Post #214.
He was preceded in death by wife Rosa Lee Little Short; son Melvin Short; brothers Wilbert, Nathaniel and Carl Short; daughter-in-law Lois Short.

Gandy, born in Darlington County, was a son of the late Edward Samuel and Martha Heyward Gandy. He was a retired textile employee.
He was preceded in death by wife Mildred Byrd Gandy; brother Charles “Sonny Boy” Gandy.

Laney, born in Chesterfield County, was a son of Susie K. Laney and the late Minor Laney. He was a retired employee of Springs Industries with 28 years of service. Following his retirement, he worked with McManus Logging. He was a member of First Freewill Baptist Church.
He was preceded in death by sons, Milton and Gary Laney; daughter Sylvia Ann Laney; brothers Pete and Edward Laney; sisters Lessie Hargett and Catherine Outen.
Surviving are wife of 41 years Betty S. Robert A. Raley
JEFFERSON – Robert A. Raley, 79, died Oct. 31, 2007. A funeral service was held Nov. 2 at Jefferson United Methodist Church with burial in Jefferson cemetery.
Raley, born in Jefferson, was a son of the late Mack Andrew and Ethel Reeves Raley. He was a lifelong member of Jefferson United Methodist Church where he served throughout the years on the Administrative Board, as Superintendent of Sunday School and on the Pastor/Parish Relations Committee. A veteran of the United States Navy, he later spent a year at Presbyterian Junior College and two years at Newberry College. He worked for many years as a farmer on the land that he loved and also ran Raley Hardware Store following his father’s death. He began a lifetime of service as a member of the Chesterfield County Council for more than two decades. He also served in the South Carolina House of Representatives for two terms, where he was a member of the Ways and Means Committee. He held several offices in the Jefferson Post of American Legion, was a Veteran’s Service Officer and was currently serving as a town council member for the town of Jefferson. With his late wife Polly, he also served on various AARP committees and worked to establish branch libraries in the communities throughout Chesterfield County. He completed her term and a subsequent term on the Chesterfield County Library Board.
He was preceded in death by wife of 49 years Pauline Rowell Raley; brother Joseph Mack Raley. Surviving are daughter Paulette (Tom) Rayfield; granddaughters Kerry (Hunter) Bowie, Lindsay (Tarek) Elshazly and Ali Rebecca Rayfield; countless friends in Jefferson and throughtout the state of South Carolina.

Ratliff, born in Chesterfield County, was a son of the late David Mack and Claudia Poe Rodgers Ratliff. He was a 1941 graduate of Mt. Croghan High School. He was retired from J.P.Steven with 35 years of employment, after which he was employed with Chesterfield County for 18 years. He was a faithful member of Oakland Baptist Church, where he served as former Deacon, Sunday School teacher and Choir Director. He was a Master Mason for 63 years with Chesterfield Masonic Lodge #220.
He was preceded in death by wife Miriam Stroud Ratliff.

Eva Mae Truesdale Welch
JEFFERSON - Eva Mae Truesdale Welch, 91, died Oct. 27, 2007. A funeral service was held Nov. 1 at Mt. Canaan Baptist Church with burial in church cemetery.
Welch, born in Lancaster County, was a daughter of the late Moses and Lottie Thompson Truesdale. She was a faithful member of the Mt. Canaan Baptist Church, Jefferson for over 60 years where she served as assistant church clerk, intermediate and adult Sunday School teacher, chaplain of missionary ministry, book choir leader, senior choir. She was a member of the Golden Gate Lodge Chapter #234 in Kershaw, S.C. where she served as Worthy Matron and associate Matron until her health declined.
She was preceded in death by eight sisters, three brothers, grandchildren and great grandchildren.
Surviving are son Johnny Welch of Jefferson; daughters Mary (Otis) Sowell, Martha Dunlap, Susie Blakeney all of Jefferson, Pauline Duren of Charlotte, N.C. and Voncille Copney of Pageland; 30 grandchildren, 40 great grandchildren and 25 great great grandchildren a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

ANDERSON, S.C. - Robert Adair Williamson, 75, died Oct. 30, 2007 at Richard M. Campbell Veterans Nursing Home.

Williamson, born in Lynchburg, VA, was a son of the late Horry and Gussie Adair Williamson. He served in the U.S. Army during the Korean War, was a graduate of Furman University and received his Masters Degree from Southern Seminary. He served as Minister of Music at First Baptist Church, Lancaster, S.C. from 1959-1967 and retired after serving as Minister of Music at Northgate Baptist Church, Greenville, S.C. for 31 years. He was a member of Boulevard Baptist Church, Anderson, S.C.
He was preceded in death by brothers Harold and Charles Williamson.

Evans, born in Pageland, was the son of the late Lee Roy and Eva Allie Griffin Evans. He attended Wingate College and Fruitland Bible College, and was a retired Baptist minister having served churches in North and South Carolina. He was a member of Union Baptist Church.
He was preceded in death by wife of 60 years, Helen Funderburk Evans; son David Evans; brothers W.L. and Everette Evans.

Jackson, born in Chesterfield County, was a son of the late Robert Lee and Bessie Sullivan Jackson. He was a retired shading manager of the Customer Service Center at Springs Industries. He was also a U.S. Army Veteran of the Korean War.

She was married to Early Robinson, Sr. and to this union eleven children were born. She was preceded in death by son Johnny Robinson.

William P. Kyler Sr.
CHESTERFIELD - William P. Kyler Sr., 88, died October 10, 2007 at Chestefield General Hospital, Cheraw. A funeral service was held October 15 at Word of Life Fellowship Church, Cheraw with burial in National Cemetery, Florence, S.C. Kyler, born in Beaufort, S.C., was a son of the late James and Elizabeth Pennington Kyler. At the age of seven he moved to New York City and graduated from Haaren High School. He then enlisted in the Army in 1944 during WWII,
he was honorably discharged in 1946. He then worked for the NYC Transit Authority as a dispatcher until he retired in 1980. After retirement he moved to Chesterfield and was a faithful member and Deacon of Lily of the Valley Holiness Church in Chesterfield. He served as Past 3rd Vice Commander of Johnson Lane American Legion Post 214. He was preceded in death by sister Marvelous Watson. Surviving are wife of 51 years, Leila M. Kyler; sons, William Kyler of Brooklyn, NY and Darrell (Cora) Kyler of Cheraw; daughter-in-law Dory Kyler of Chesterfield; four grandchildren and three great grandchildren; and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. She worked for Johnson Milling in Monroe, N.C. and was last employed with Wal-Mart Super Center, Lancaster, S.C. as a receiving clerk. Paul Edward Snipes
CHESTERFIELD — Paul Edward Snipes, 79, died September 25, 2007 at his home. A funeral service was held September 28 at White Oak Presbyterian Church with burial in the church cemetery. Snipes, born in Charlotte, N.C., was a son of the late John Henry and Blanche Watts Snipes. He was a graduate of Ruby High School and a retired shipping supervisor with J.P. Stevens with 40 years of service. He received the first Employee of the Year Award in 1989 from J.P. Stevens. Paul was a faithful member of White Oak Presbyterian Church, where he served as an elder and choir member. He was also a former member and deacon of Douglas Mill Baptist Church. Mr. Snipes also served on the Board of Trustees of the Douglas Mill Cemetery Association, the building committee of the Douglas Mill Fellowship Building, and was a Watchman Representative for Hospice of Chesterfield County. Paul was an avid collector and restorer of classic Chevrolets and was best known for this 1955 Chevrolet convertible, which was used in the movie Shag. He received numerous awards throughout the Southeast for his classic cars. He also enjoyed farming and fishing. He was preceded in death by his wife of 60 years, Patricia Douglas Snipes; three brothers, Harold, Billy, and Leon Snipes; sisters, Johnsie Brantley and Mary Bess. CHESTERFIELD — John Lorenzo Allred, 54, died Oct. 2, 2007. A funeral service was held Oct. 5 at Miller-Rivers-Caulder Funeral Home Chapel with burial in Chesterfield Cemetery.
Allred, born in Cheraw, was a son of John J. and Tallie Mae White Allred. He was a former truck driver.
He was preceded in death by nephews John E. Miller and CWO-3 Michael Lee Hartwick Jr.

Charles F. Caulder
CHERAW — Charles F. Caulder, 82, died Oct. 1, 2007 at his home. A funeral service was held Oct. 3 at Mt. Olivet United Methodist Church with burial in the church cemetery.
Caulder born in Chesterfield County, was a son of the late Allie Jackson and Nezzie Rushing Caulder. He was a graduate of Cheraw High School and attended Clemson University. Caulder was a retired teacher with Cheraw High School. He was a Sergeant with the U.S. Army Air Force during WWII, having completed 208 flights over the Hump as radio operator and mechanic. Caulder was a lifelong faithful member of Mt. Olivet United Methodist Church, where he served as permanent Trustee and was chairman of the Cemetery Committee for many years. He enjoyed working on and restoring antique and classic cars.
Caulder was first married to the late Nathalie Short Caulder and then to the late Dezzie Hall Caulder, and was also preceded in death by a brother Edward L. Caulder, and by sisters Valdese Patterson and Katie Grant.
Surviving are son the Rev. Ronnie (Linda) Caulder, of Cheraw; daughters Sherrie (Jerry) Chapman and Cathey (Randy) Bedford, both of Cheraw, and Susan (John) Jennings, of Columbia; brother Jack Caulder, of Auburn,; sister Janie L. Howle, of Cheraw; nine grandchildren and five great grandchildren.

Davis was born in Hartsville, S.C., a daughter of the late Leo and Blondell Timms Gandy. She was a graduate of Hartsville High School and Florence-Darlington Tech. and was a retired employee of Chesterfield Manufacturing Co. Davis was a member of Westfield Creek Baptist Church. She was first married to the late John D. Davis and then to the late Franklin “Big Frank” Davis Jr. and was preceded in death by brother Wayne Gandy.

Carolyn Margaret Mewshaw
CHESTERFIELD — Carolyn Margaret Mewshaw, died Oct. 4, 2007. A funeral service was held Oct. 6 at Miller-Rivers-Caulder Funeral Home Chapel with burial in Shiloh United Methodist Church Cemetery.
Mewshaw lived in Pasedena, Md., but more recently in Chesterfield. After high school graduation she entered the Civil Air Patrol and then began her career as a U.S. Postal carrier. A devoted wife and mother, her childhood love of Girl Scouts was passed to her girls, as she became a leader for many years. Her life encompassed many adventures. She made many friends and was a special part of the lives she touched, but, most of all, her love for family is her greatest legacy.
She was preceded in death by parents Joseph and Marie Nieberlein; brother Joseph and granddaughter Lauren Anne Patch.

She was preceded in death by brother Archie Morris; sisters Bessie Jamieson and Vera Morris.

Nolan, born in Bennettsville, S.C., was a son of Smith Nolan and the late Mattie Sessoms Stovall. He was a retired welding foreman and a U.S. Marine veteran of the Vietnam War. He was a member of the AMVETS Chapter 177 and was an avid fisherman. He was a faithful member of Forest Pines Free Will Baptist Church.
He was preceded in death by son Patrick Allen Nolan and brother Billy Ray Stovall.

Baker, born in Union County, N.C., was a daughter of the late Madison and Rebecca Baker. She was a member of Mount Calvary Baptist Church and was employed by Caro Knit of Jefferson where she retired after 25 years. She was the first African American to be employed there, known by many as “Ma Mable.”
She was preceded in death by husband,Charles Wilson Baker; sons,Tony and Robbie Baker; five sisters and a brother.

Born in Kite, Ga., Davis was a son of the late Franklin and Alma Kitty Shepard Davis. He was a retired material handler specialist with INA.
Surviving are wife Abbie Gandy Davis, of the home, sons Franklin (Timmie) Davis III, of McFarlane, N.C., and John Kyle (Robin) Davis, of Cheraw; daughters Margie Lynn Davis, of Keavy, Ky., and Amanda (Nathan Johnson) Davis, of Chesterfield; brothers Otis Paul Duncan, of Sandersville, Ga., Lester Duncan, of Tampa, Fla., and Forrest Lee Davis, of Kite, Ga.; grandchildren Heather Lynn Davis, Chris Smith, John Holden Davis, Kylie Marie Davis, and Seth Johnson.

Tavish Jerrell Dunlap
PAGELAND – Tavish Jerell Dunlap, 18, died Aug. 27, 2007 at Carolina Medical Trauma Center, Charlotte, N.C. A funeral service was held Sept. 1 at Rock Hill A.M.E. Zion Church with burial in the church cemetery.
Dunlap, born in Chesterfield County, was a son of Pamela Dunlap (Kenneth) Mungo and Rodney Blakeney, of Pageland. He was a member of Rock Hill A.M.E. Zion Church and was educated in Chesterfield County public schools.
Surviving, along with parents are brothers, Cedric Dunlap and Desmond Little; sisters Brianna Dunlap, Kenya Mungo and Armesia Baker, all of Pageland; grandparents Annette Dunlap and Johnny Welch, Betty Blakeney and the late James Blakeney all of Pageland; great grandmothers Fredonia Dunlap and Eva Mae Welch; and host of other relatives and friends.

Aubrey Glenn Eddins
CHESTERFIELD - Aubrey Glenn Eddins, 66, died Sept. 5, 2007. A funeral service was held Sept. 8 at Miller-Rivers-Caulder Funeral Home Chapel with burial in Westfield Creek Baptist Church Cemetery.
Eddins, born in Chesterfield, was a son of the late John William and Allie Rae Campbell Eddins. He was the retired owner of Eddins Used Parts and was a U.S. Air Force veteran of the Vietnam era. He was a member of Westfield Creek Baptist Church.
He was preceded in death by son James William Eddins.
Surviving are wife Mary Lou Walters Eddins; sons Danny (Deanna) Eddins, of Chesterfield, Shane (Debbie) Moore, of Cassatt, S.C. and Bradford (Michelle) Moore, of Lancaster, S.C.; daughters Teresa (Richard) Preston and Lynn (Leroy, III) Check, both of Chesterfield, and Dawn Self, of Cassatt, S.C.; brother James Eddins, of Chesterfield; 19 grandchildren; special family members Steven and Ruth Press, Stan Crawford and Ron Little.

Nora Jenkins Gosnell
PAGELAND— Nora Jenkins Gosnell, 91, a longtime resident of Pageland, died Sept. 1, 2007. A funeral service was held Sept. 4 at High Point Baptist Church with burial in Greenlawn Memorial Park.
Gosnell, born in Chesterfield County, was the daughter of the late Andrew Griffin and Cora Plyler Griffin. Gosnell was a homemaker and a member of High Point Baptist Church.
She was preceded in death by husband Willis John Cleveland Jenkins and Carl Gosnell; daughter Patricia Ann Jenkins; son Donald Richard Jenkins; granddaughter Nancy Jenkins Hash; four brothers and three sisters.
Surviving are son Wade E. (Sue) Jenkins; daughters Judy (Michael) Martin and Vickie (Dennis) Peine, of Pageland; grandchildren Barry Jenkins, Jeff (Mindy)Jenkins, Dana (Andrew) Crouch, Greg (Deanna) Jenkins, Scott Martin, Kelly (Heather) Martin, Rayna (Bill) Blackmon, Christina (Patrick)Hill ; 15 great-grandchildren; one great-great grandchild; special niece Shirlie Deese; special friend Judy Deese; and with numerous nieces and nephews.

John Emil McCoy
PAGELAND— John Emil McCoy, 95, died Sept. 3, 2007. A funeral services was held on Sept. 6 at First Presbyterian Church in Pageland with burial following at Bethany Baptist Church in Bishopville, S.C.
McCoy, born in Bishopville, was a son of the late John E. and Mary Elizabeth Josey McCoy. He was a member of First Presbyterian Church where he had served on the Session as a Deacon and Elder. McCoy attended the University of South Carolina and later was employed at the Peoples Bank in Bishopville. He was also the Manager of the Graniteville Bank in Graniteville, S.C. He was a World War II veteran, having served in the Pacific Theatre. In 1959 he established a Ford Dealership, McCoy Motors, and he retired from the automobile business in 1986.
Surviving are wife Grace Addy McCoy, of Pageland; daughters Suzanne Addy McCoy (J. Larry )Young, of Pawleys Island, S.C., Mary Elizabeth McCoy (Dr. Melton) Stuckey, of Columbia, S.C., and Kathryn Eve McCoy, also of Columbia; grandchildren Merrell McCoy Young, of Myrtle Beach, S.C., Adrienne Suzanne Young, a student at Clemson University, and John Derrick Stuckey, a student at the University of Virginia, four step-grandchildren, six step great grandchildren; and sisters Lucille McCoy Welch of Clinton, N.C., and Maida McCoy Sandel, of Columbia,S.C.

Martha Jean Lowery Miller
PAGELAND— Martha Jean Lowery Miller, 76, died Aug. 26, 2007 at Carolina’s Medical Center-Union. A funeral service was held Aug. 30 at Salem United Methodist Church with burial in the church cemetery.
Miller, born in Chesterfield County, was the daughter of the late Louvenia “Att” Robinson Lowery and Edgar Lowery. She was a homemaker and joined Salem United Methodist Church at an early age. She was also a member of the Salem United Methodist Church usher board, and was a kind-loving mother, grandmother, aunt, and friend.
She was preceded in death by husband Clinton Miller; daughter Beverly Ann Miller; brother James Thomas Lowery, and sister Juanita Chambers.
She is survived by sons Glenn (Jeran) Miller, of Columbia, S.C., and Leonard (Nancy) Miller, of Midland, N.C.; daughters Phyllis (George) Slay, of Charlotte, N.C., Priscilla Miller, of Pageland, and Dara (Darrell) Rivers, of Pageland; a granddaughter of the home, Nicole Miller; 16 grandchildren, 22 great-grandchildren; a special friend, Mrs. Selma Huntley; and a host of nieces, nephews, and other relatives and friends.

Steve Westley ‘Sam’ West
RUBY — Steve Westley “Sam” West, 86, died Sept. 5, 2007. A funeral service was held Sept. 8 at Clanton Plains Baptist Church with burial in the church cemetery.
West, born in Kershaw, S.C., was a son of the late Henry and Henrietta Williams West. He was a retired Chesterfield County corrections employee and a U.S. Army Veteran of WWII. He was a member of Clanton Plains Baptist Church.
He was preceded in death by wife Myrtle Parker West; son Bill Parker; brothers James, Billy and Julius West; and sisters Elizabeth Cauthen and Geneva Sowell.
Surviving are sons Steve (Carolyn) West, of Ruby, Olin (Ruth) Parker, of Chesterfield and Jimmy (Bonnie) Wallace, of Ruby; daughters Betty Garvin, of Jackson, MS, Nelda Vincent, of Myrtle Beach, S.C. and Sue (Gerald) Jordan, of Mt. Samuel S. Jordan
SHOSHONI, WY - Samuel S. Jordan, 65, died Sept. 1, 2007 at his home. A memorial service was held Sept. 5 at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints with burial in Mountain View cemetery in Riverton, WY.
Jordan, born in Pageland, was a son to the late LeRoy and Elizabeth Mangum Jordan. He grew up in Pageland joining the Navy after graduating Pageland High School. In the Navy met his wife as they served as photographers in Washington, D.C. He enjoyed fishing, traveling, spending time with his family and loved watching and participating in sports while in the Navy. He was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints, where he served as president to the Elders Quorum. He was a truck driver for B.T.I., Crete, and various other trucking companies. For the past five years he worked for Maddock Enterprises of Shoshini. He was preceded in death by son Dustin Les Jordan and grandson Cam Paxton Jordan.
Surviving are wife Mary Ellen (Hart) Jordan; sons Cody (Dee) of Bonham, TX, Layne (Mary) of Shoshini, WY, Hart (Annie), of Saratoga, WY, Jason (Sarah), of Cheyenne, WY, Nathan (Kami), of Riverton, WY, Guy (Maggie), of Laramie, WY; daughter Beth (Erin) Fazendin, of Saratoga, WY; brother LeRoy Jordan, of Pageland; and 15 grandchildren.

MONROE,N.C. – Rosa Mills Price, 97, died Aug. 30, 2007. A graveside service was held Sept. 1 at Monroe City Cemetery.
Price, born in Union County, was a daughter of the late Raymond Lucas and Vinnie Helms Mills.
