Susan Marie Avant
PAGELAND - Susan Marie Avant, 53, died Dec. 4, 2007 at Carolinas Medical Center-Union. A funeral service was held Dec. 7 at Smyrna Baptist Church with burial in Greenlawn Memorial Park. She was the daughter of the late Harry Talmedge and Mary Carol Avant.
She was preceded in death by daughter Stephanie.Surviving are son Shane Greene of Pageland; daughter Lisa Williams of Mt. Croghan; brother Harry Avant of Pageland; special friend Ernie Evans of Pageland.
Sutton Funeral Home, Pageland, was in charge of the arrangements.

Hamilton ‘Hamp’ Benenhaley Jr.
CHESTERFIELD - Hamilton “Hamp” Benenhaley Jr., 76, died Dec. 3, 2007 at his home. A funeral service was held Dec. 5 at St. Paul United Methodist Church with burial in Chesterfield cemetery.
Benenhaley, born in Dalzell, S.C., was a son of the late Hamilton and Harriet Lowery Benenhaley. He attended Clemson College and was an active member of IPTAY. He was in the insurance business for 30 years, as an agent and manager, and retired with Life of Georgia. He was a U.S. Army veteran and was a former member of the S.C. National Guard. He was a member and past Master f the Chesterfield Masonic Lodge 220, a former member of the Chesterfield Town Council and had been active in Dixie Youth Baseball. He was a member and former Trustee of St. Paul United Methodist Church.
He was preceded in death by nephew Tim McElveen.
Surviving are wife of 50 years Martha Ballard Benehaley; sons Monty Benenhaley of Warner Robbins,GA and David (Robin) Benenhaley of Midland, N.C.; daughter Cindy (Tom) Rochester of Cornelius, N.C.; sister Clara (Legrand) McElveen of Bishopville, S.C.; eight grandchildren Haley, Drew and Gray Rochester, Derek, Grant, Jared, Wesley and Allie Benenhaley; nephew Sam (Donna) McElveen of Lugoff, S.C.

Christina LaShay Chambers
PAGELAND - Christina LaShay Chambers, 16, died Nov. 26, 2007. A funeral service was held Dec. 1 at Tiny Grove Holiness Church with burial in the church cemetery.
She was born in Monroe, N.C. and was the daughter of Jimmy and Miranda Massey Chambers. She attended Central High School where she was a tenth grade student. She loved singing, preaching, laughing, and loved her family.
Surviving along with parents are brothers Cornelius and Tavarious Chambers of Pageland; grandmothers Ollie Massey of Pageland and Juanita Osbourne of Monroe, N.C.; two special friends Eddie and Jeffrey; a host of aunts, uncles, niece, nephew, cousins, classmates and friends.

Pearlie Sullivan Evans
PAGELAND – Pearlie Sullivan Evans, 88, died Dec. 7, 2007 at Carolinas Medical Center-Union. A funeral service was held December 9 at Fork Creek United Methodist Church with burial in the church cemetery. She was born in Chesterfield County and was the daughter of the late Sam Franklin and Betty Kirkley Sullivan. She was preceded in death by husband Wilson Evans. Surviving are daughters Gail (Paul) Eubanks of Jefferson, Marjorie Hinson and Sara Evans of Charlotte, NC, Carolyn Abernathy of Pageland; sister Azilee Mangum of Pageland; three grandchildren Marty (Shannon) Eubanks of Jefferson, Michelle (Tim) Hodgkins of Raleigh, NC and Todd Abernathy; two great grandchildren Bryce and Karley Eubanks of Jefferson. Brenda Faye Sims
CHERAW - Brenda Faye Sims, 52, died Dec. 2, 2007.
A funeral service was held Dec. 4 at Forest Pine Free Will Baptist Church with burial in the church cemetery.
She was born in Cheraw a daughter of the late Rosia Nevel Linton and Margaret Aycock Linton Davis. She attended Chesterfield-Marlboro Technical College and was a retired nursing assistant. She was a charter member of Forest Pine Free Will Baptist Church. She was preceded in death by brother Ricky Linton. Surviving are husband Bud Sims;
brother Andy (Jeanette) Linton of Cheraw, S.C.; sisters: Sue (Pete) Hall of Lancaster, S.C., Gale (Richard) Furr, Cindy (Joe) Stafford and Diane (Buddy) Burr all of Cheraw; 8 Nieces and Nephews and 12 Great Nieces and Nephews.

Essie Stroud Lewis Tolson

ROCKINGHAM,N.C. - Essie Stroud Lewis Tolson, 80, died Dec. 1, 2007. A funeral service was held Dec. 4 at Brown Springs Baptist Church with burial in the church cemetery.
Tolson, born in Patrick, was a daughter of the late D.C. “Cal” and Nealie Huggins Stroud. She was a retired employee of Chesterfield Manufacturing.
She was preceded in death by first husband Jim Lewis and then husband James Tolson; also, son James William “Dub” Lewis; grandchildren Tammy, Buster, and Harold Pankey, Johnny Lewis; brothers Thomas and Harrison Stroud; sisters Emma Dale Helms and Agnes Crawford. Surviving are daughter Diane (Crawford) Pankey of Rockingham, N.C.; stepson Junior (Michelle) Tolson of Patrick; brother James Stroud of Patrick; sisters Louise Stroud and Sue Jordan of Patrick; five grandchildren and seven great grandchildren.
