Angela ‘Angie’ Marie Blackmon
CHERAW - Angela ‘Angie’ Marie Blackmon, 24, died Nov. 17, 2007. A funeral service was held Nov. 20 at Cheraw Family Worship with burial in Chatham Hill Memorial Gardens.
Blackmon, born in Bennettsville, S.C., was a daughter of Debbie Faye Pope of Cheraw and Jimmy Laverne Blackmon, Jr. of Georgetown, S.C.
Surviving are son, James Phillip Chavis, Jr., daughter, Madison Marie Chavis both of Darlington, S.C.; her parents; brother, William Jason Treadaway of Cheraw, S.C., sister, Glenda Elizabeth “Beth” Chapman of Wallace, S.C., maternal grandfather, Russell Howle, Sr. of Cheraw, S.C., and paternal grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. Jimmy (Louise) Blackmon Sr. of Darlington, S.C.
Kiser Funeral Home was in charge of the arrangements.

William Leroy ‘Roy’ Clark
PAGELAND – William Leroy “Roy” Clark, 86, died Nov. 24, 2007 at Lancaster Convalescent Center. A funeral service was held Nov. 27 at First Presbyterian Church with burial in Salem cemetery. Clark, born in Pageland, was the son of the late Clayton and Lou Clark. He was a retired textile supervisor of Springs Industries for 33 years. He was a member of First Presbyterian Church, also a member of Salem Presbyterian Church where he served as an elder and deacon.
He was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Evelyn Sikes Clark.
Surviving are daughters: Elsie (Ted) Evans of Pageland and Sue Mills of Jefferson; sisters Mary Lou (Harold) Rivers of Pageland, Betty Krimminger of Charlotte, Ann Smith of Rincon, GA., Effie (Bud) Parham of Cornea, Ga; a brother Horace (Martha) Clark of Pageland; grandchildren Rochelle (Mark) Bess, Belinda (Tim) Sinclair, Candace (Doug) Eubanks, Jason (Erin) Evans all of Pageland and Jamie Thomas of Hanahan, S.C.: great-grandchildren Melissa and Emily Bess, Garrett and Leah Sinclair, Hailey Eubanks, Payton and Chandler Evans.

Jimmy Grooms
BENNETTSVILLE,S.C. – Jimmy Grooms, 67, died Nov. 26, 2007 at his home. A funeral service was held Nov. 29 at Miller-Rivers-Caulder Funeral Home Chapel with burial in Bay Springs Baptist Church cemetery.
Grooms, born in Chesterfield, was a son of the late Walter and Ola Lee Johnson Grooms. He was a graduate of Chesterfield-Marlboro Tech, a retired auto salesman, and a U.S. Army Veteran.
He was preceded in death by daughter Erline Grooms; stepson Mike Purvis; sister Pauline Grooms; brothers Ray and Rev. William Ellis Grooms.
Surviving are wife Lanthy Grant Grooms; godson Jason Small of Dillon, S.C.; brother Otis Grooms of Ruby; sisters Gertrude (Ronnie) Turnage and Kathy Grooms both of Chesterfield and Vera (Lowell) Tolson of Anderson, S.C. Harold L. Mitchell
MONROE,N.C. – Harold L. Mitchell, 65, died Nov. 26, 2007. A funeral service was held Nov. 29 at Sutton Funeral Home Chapel. He was born in Detriot, Michigan, son of the late Raymond and Helen Brewer Mitchell.
Surviving are wife Jonny Moree; sons; Michael Allen Mitchell of Swansboro, N.C.; Mark Gene Mitchell of Newport News, VA; Matthew Mitchell of Silver Grove, KY; and Danny (Donna) Steen of Pageland; daughters, Melaina Lynn Mitchell of Chesapeake, VA; and Amanda Lanci of Monroe, N.C., Anne Steen Miller of Pageland; brother, Ray Gene Mitchell; sister Linda Kay Pratt. Judy Williams Guyton Odom
FLORENCE, S.C. - Judy Williams Guyton Odom, 62, died Nov. 15, 2007. A funeral service was held Nov. 17 at Layton-Anderson Funeral Home with burial in Byrd cemetery, Timmonsville, S.C.
Odom, born in Florence, S.C., was a daughter of the late Otto Franklin and Virginia Byrd Richardson Williams. She worked as the manager of a local convenience store in the Florence area.
She was preceded in death by husbands, Sonny Guyten and William Odom.
Surviving are son John Mark Guyton of Fairmont, N.C.; daughters Daisy (Kenny) Cox of Florence, S.C. and Phyllis (Mark) Yarborough of Hartsville, S.C.; sisters Ieta (Melvin) Collins of Florence,S.C., Virginia (Tu Tu) Hill of Pageland, Alma (Leroy) Alvis of Wisconsin, Jesse Ruth (Jay) Austin-Barber of Florida; eight grandchildren. Rosalie Clemmons Phelps
CHERAW - Rosalie Clemmons Phelps 76, died Nov. 16, 2007. A memorial service was held Nov. 18 at Kiser Funeral Home.
Phelps, born in Supply, N.C., was a daughter of the late William and Mary Lee Boseman Clemmons. She was a member of St. David’s Episcopal Church, Cheraw, S.C.
She was preceded in death by daughter, Martha Eileen Phelps.
Surviving are her husband, B.D. Phelps of Cheraw; daughter, Carol (Jeff) P. Neubert of Winterville, N.C.; several brothers and sisters; grand children, Rebecca (Joel) N. Margie Arant Rollins
JEFFERSON – Margie Arant Rollins,67, died Nov. 25, 2007 at Lancaster Convalescent Center. A funeral service was held Nov. 28 at Bethel Baptist Church with burial in the church cemetery.
Rollins, born in Lancaster County, was the daughter of the late Woodrow and Gladys Greene Arant.
She was preceded in death by husband Lawrence Rollins. She is survived by son: Steven L. Rollins of Pageland.

Reece Sowell
PAGELAND - Reece Sowell, 85, died Nov. 29, 2007 at Lancaster Convalescent Center. A graveside service was held Dec. 1, 2007.
He was born in Chesterfield County and was a son of the late Henry and Jessie Blakeney Sowell. Sowell was a member of Pageland Methodist Church and was the retired owner of Sowell Motor Company in Pageland.
Surviving are wife Betty Chesser ; sisters, Pearl Arant and Rachael Caraway of Pageland.

James Edward ‘Hammer Head’ Wallace
CHERAW – James Edward “Hammer Head”, 58, died Nov. 29, 2007. A funeral service was held Dec. 1 at Miller-Rivers-Caulder Funeral Home Chapel with burial in Chatham Hill Memorial Gardens.
Wallace, born in Cheraw, was a son of the late Paul, Sr. and Janie Mae Dixon Wallace. He was a retired gas station attendant. He was an avid football, wrestling, country music fan, and loved all animals.
Surviving are stepmother Dorothy Burr of Chesterfield; brother Paul (Linda) Wallace Jr. of Gibson, N.C.; sisters Catherine (Andy) Wright of Pageland, Carolyn (Caston) Crowley of Patrick, Ann Caulford of Ruby, Myrtle (Dean) Ratliff of Cheraw, Patricia Davis of Chesterfield, Betty Jo (Lonnie) Hatchell of Rockingham, N.C., Sherry Wallace of Chesterfield and Janice Steward of Darlington, S.C.; seven nephews and 11 nieces; loyal and faithful companion-his Chinese Pug, Star.
