Lula Mae Tyson Blakeney
MT. CROGHAN – Lula Mae Tyson Blakeney, 86, died Dec. 3, 2007 at CMC-Union. A funeral service was held Dec. 6 at Gum Spring Baptist Church with burial in the church cemetery.
Blakeney, born in Chesterfield County, was a daughter of the late Esau and Dora Blackwell Tyson. She was a faithful member of Mt. Harmon Baptist Church who was active on the Usher Board, Choir and Missionary. She was co-founder of the Tyson-Blackwell Family Reunion and held the position of President for over 35 years.
She was preceded in death by husband James F. Blakeney; four brothers and two sisters.
Surviving are sons Joe Blakeney of Washington,D.C. and Billy Blakeney of Mt. Croghan; daughter Valeria (Mickey) Baker of Mt. Croghan; brother John Davis Tyson of Mt. Croghan; two children she raised Terry (Ralph) Gladden of Chester, S.C. and Alex Watson of W. Columbia, S.C.; seven grandchildren and ten great grandchildren; many nephews, nieces, cousins, other relatives and dear friends.

Sidney Elizabeth Butler
JEFFERSON - Sidney Elizabeth Butler, 68, died Dec. 7, 2007 at her residence. A graveside service was held Dec. 11 at Lakeland Memorial Park Mausoleum, Monroe, N.C. Butler, born in Wytheville, Va., was a daughter of the late William and Ellen Frances Smith Jackson.
She was preceded in death by husband Charles A. Butler; son James Woods. Surviving are sons Larry “Donnie” Woods and Leroy Portmess both of Monroe, N.C.; daughter Terry Portmess of Jefferson;step-children Charles Butler, Crystal Herring both of Jefferson, Sandra Burns of Waxhaw, N.C.; brothers John Jackson of Polkton,N.C. and Walt Jackson of Jefferson; 16 grandchildren and six great grandchildren.

Booker T. Choplin
PAGELAND - Booker T. Choplin, 60, died Dec. 8, 2007. A funeral service was held Dec. 11 at Union Hill Missionary Baptist Church with burial in the church cemetery.
Choplin, born in Pageland, was the son of the late Eugene and Carrie Chambers Choplin. He was a graduate of Petersburg High School and was employed by Tyson Foods in Monroe, N.C. He was a faithful member of Union Hill Missionary Baptist Church, Pageland. He sang with the male choir as well as doing whatever the church needed.
Surviving are sons Booker T. (Ann) Choplin, Jr. and Ray (Lisa) Blakeney both of Pageland; daughter Brendlin Choplin of Wilkesboro, N.C.; grandsons Bruce and Bryan of Pageland; granddaughter Jameisha of Wilkesboro, N.C.; sisters Dorothy Moore, Rosetta Rivers, Carrie Little all of Pageland and Betty (James) Miller of Charlotte, N.C.; brothers Harvey (Vivian) Choplin of Travelers Rest, S.C., Levander (Olivia) Choplin of Goldsboro, N.C., Tony and Eric McBride of Pageland.

Rebecca Eddins Curtis
CHESTERFIELD - Rebecca Eddins Curtis, 92, died Dec. 7, 2007. A funeral service was held Dec. 9 at Miller-Rivers- Caulder Funeral Home Chapel with burial in David’s Grove Baptist Church cemetery.
Curtis, born in Chesterfield, was a daughter of the late Dollie Aline Eddins Adams. She attended Guilford Technical College and was an Artist.
She was preceded in death by husband Gary “Buddy Jack” Curtis; daughter Eleanor Jean Mann; sister Arie Adams.
Surviving are sons G.W. “Sam” (Maxine) Curtis of Greensboro, N.C. and Billy Ray Curtis of Chesterfield; daughters Patricia Gordon of Randleman, N.C., Sandra Squires of Greensboro, N.C. and Cheryl Gleason of Chesterfield; son in law Jerry Mann of Chesterfield; sister Mary Ellen Davis of Chesterfield; 14 grandchildren and 22 great grandchildren.

Gwendolyn ‘Gwen’ Moore Keith
CHERAW - Gwendolyn “Gwen” Moore Keith, 66, died Dec. 11, 2007 at her home. A funeral service was held Dec. 13 at Edwards Chapel Baptist Church, Patrick with burial in Harris Creek Baptist Church cemetery, Patrick.
Keith, born in Bennettsville, S.C., was a daughter of David and Louise Moore and the late Janie Florence Watson Glisson. She was a homemaker and a member of Edwards Chapel Baptist Church.
She was preceded in death by husband Thomas Harvey Keith; son Jessie Dale Keith; daughter Martha Geneva Keith; brother Ronald Moore; sister Diane Moore.
Surviving are sons Julian”Jake” (Tina) Keith and Thomas H. “Buddy” Keith, Jr. both of Cheraw; daughters Mary (Joe) Taylor of Cheraw and Vickie (Dennis) Childers of Patrick; nine grandchildren, two step-grandchildren,three great grandchildren; brothers Ralph (Laurita) Moore of Chadburn, N.C., Grady (Tammy) Moore of Mullins, S.C. and Donald (Brenda) Moore of Whiteville, N.C.; sisters Brenda (Danny) Wiggins, Elizabeth Creech and Gladys Watts all of Whiteville, N.C.; mother-in-law Eloise Keith Hicks of Society Hill, S.C.

Hunter McBride
RUBY – Hunter McBride, 87, died Dec. 3, 2007. A funeral service was held at Rock Spring Missionary Baptist Church with burial in the church cemetery.
McBride, born in Chesterfield County, was the son of the late Marshall and Daisy McNair McBride. He was a faithful member of Rock Spring Missionary Baptist Church. He served on the trustee board and was a member of the senior choir. He served in the armed forces during World War II.
He was preceded in death by daughter Bonnie Sue Thomas and son Devoid Melton. Surviving are daughter Annie Sue Thomas of Cheraw; son Albert McBride of Ruby; daughter in spirit Redessa Myers of Ruby; 13 grandchildren, 38 great grandchildren and five great-great grandchildren.

Thomas Edward Price
JEFFERSON – Thomas Edward Price, 68, died Dec. 8, 2007. A graveside service was held Dec. 10 at Bethel Baptist Church cemetery.
Price, born in Chesterfield County, was a son of the late Clarence Thomas and Mamie Rollings Price.
Surviving are sisters Doris Belk Funderburk and Joyce Price of Monroe, N.C.; brothers Tommy and Ricky Price of Jefferson, Jackie Price of Lancaster, S.C. ,John “Dick” Price of McBee and Marshall Price of Midland, N.C.

Geneva White Short
CHERAW – Geneva White Short, 86, died Dec. 12, 2007. A funeral service was held Dec. 14 at Westside Baptist Church with burial in Chatham Hill Memorial Gardens.
Short, born in Patrick, was a daughter of the late Leon and Mary Johnson Polson. She was a retired Nursing Assistant and a member of Westside Baptist Church. She was preceded in death by husband Wilson D. White; brothers Wesley, Raymond, Howard and James Polson; sisters Carnell Wilkerson and Aliene Phillips.
Surviving are daughter Faye (Mark) Schauer of Wallace, S.C.; three grandchildren Dawn (John) Simmons and Caryn Schauer of Wallace, S.C. and Thomas Schauer of Cheraw; three great grandchildren Dustin and Bobby SChauer, Emma Jane Simmons all of Wallace, S.C.; brother Freddie Polson of Cheraw; sister Doris Quick of Patrick.

Baby Boy Resendiz
PAGELAND - Baby Boy Resendiz, died Dec., 11, 2007. A graveside service was held Dec. 14 at Mt. Croghan United Methodist Church cemetery.
He was the infant son of Crystal Michelle Lynn Hancock and Eleno Perez Resendiz of Pageland.
Surviving along with parents are brothers Justin and Terezo of Pageland; sisters Alexis, Andrea and Mahalia all of Pageland; maternal grandmother Tammy Gaddy of Pageland; paternal grandparents Terezo and Sofia Perez Resendiz of Mexico.

William L. Tucker
MONROE, N.C. – William L. Tucker, 49, died Dec. 12, 2007. A funeral service was held Dec. 15 at Pine Grove Baptist Church, Chesterfield with burial in the church cemetery.
Tucker born in Chesterfield, was a son of the late Barksdale and Lila Mae Lewis Tucker. He was a Warehouse Manager with W.F. Harris Lighting, Inc. He was a member and past Master of Cherryville Lodge 505, member of Cherryville Shrine Club and member of the Oasis Shrine Temple in Charlotte, N.C. He was a member of Trinity Baptist Church.
He was preceded in death by brother Junior Dale Tucker.
Surviving are wife Belinda Adams Tucker; sons William L. Tucker, Jr. of Patrick, Joshua and Luke Tucker of the home; daughter Tiffany (Jimmy) Morton of Ruby; granddaugher Addison Morton; brother Jimmy (Delores) Tucker of Chesterfield; sisters Janice Tucker of Chesterfield; Tammy Tucker of Rockingham, N.C., Vera Berry and Frances Addison both of Union, S.C. and Marie Kyzer of W. Columbia, S.C.; sister-in-law Barbara C. Tucker of Chesterfield.

Therlo Simpson Wadsworth
PAGELAND - Therlo Simpson Wadsworth, 98, died Dec. 2, 2007 at the Chesterfield County General Hospital, Cheraw. A funeral service was held Dec. 6, 2007 at Grandview Presbyterian Church with burial in Chesterfield Community cemetery.
Wadsworth, born in Anson County, N.C., was a son of the late Augusta and May Bell Stanley Wadsworth. He retired from General Motors in Alexandria, Va.; he also served in the United States Navy and was honorably discharged. He returned to Cheraw and resumed his membership at Grandview Presbyterian Church, Chesterfield where he remained an active Elder. He moved to Pageland in 2007 and attended Pageland Second Presbyterian Church. His Masonic affiliations included being a Past Master of Acacia Lodge #32, Alexandria, Va., King Cyrus Royal Arch, Virginia Jurisdiction, Past Potentate of Magna Temple #3 Alexandria, Va. and Albahr Temple #178 Camden, S.C.
He was preceded in death by sisters Idell Byrd and Sarah Taylor; brothers Roy, James, Bill and Henry Wadsworth.
Surviving are wife of 64 yrs. Hattie Walker Wadsworth; sister-in-law Sarah Wadsworth of Los Angeles, CA and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
