PAGELAND - Marvin David ‘Pops’ Baron, 86, died Jan. 7, 2008. A graveside service was held Jan. 9 at Providence Baptist Church cemetery.
Baron, born in McAdoo, Pa., was a son of the late William and Mary Ruth Terlinsky Baron. He attended Penn State University and was a Union Truck Driver with A & P for 36 years. He was a U.S. Army Veteran of WWII.
He was preceded in death by brothers, Louis and Harry Baron; sisters Phyllis Peters and Lillian Belovin. Surviving are wife Peggie Harrill Baron; sons Roger (Linda) Byrd of Hagerstown, MD and Rusty (Lisa) Gaytko of Pageland; daughter Sandra (Colby) Bledsoe of Myersville, MD; sister Dorothy Williams of Glen Cove, NY; seven grandchildren and two great grandchildren.

PAGELAND - Annie Ree McKay Chambers, 60, died Jan. 7, 2008 at CMC-Charlotte, N.C. A funeral service was held Jan. 13 at Oak Hill Missionary Baptist Church with burial in the church cemetery.
Chambers, born in Chesterfield, was a daughter of the late Charlie and Minnie McKay. She was a graduate of Petersburg High School and attended Northeastern Technical College. She was an active member in the community and was always willing to lend a helping hand to everyone.
She was preceded in death by brothers Ray and Edward “Tom” McKay.

Louallen, born in Chesterfield County, was a son of the late Harold and Omie Clark Louallen. He was a member of Rocky Branch Baptist Church and Rocky Branch Masonic Lodge #240 for numerous years. He was employed by Sutton Funeral Home for many years.
He was preceded in death by wife of over 20 years Lily M. Louallen; son James Edward Louallen.

Middleton, born in Chesterfield County, was a daughter of the late Bud and Mary Eliza Campbell Morgan. She was a graduate of Coker College and taught in Chesterfield and Lancaster County Schools. She was a life long member of Macedonia Baptist Church where she was active in various programs.

Born in Cheraw, S.C. she was the daughter of the late Walter E. and Lucille M. Reid. She was a member of First Baptist Church, Cheraw, S.C. serving as a Sunday School Teacher and was a member of the Carrie Hatchell Sunday School Class. Mrs. McBride was a member of the Garden Club. She had served as a Girl Scout Troop Leader. She enjoyed tennis, swimming, gardening, fishing, sewing and crafts.

She graduated with honors from the University of North Carolina at Greensboro, N.C. in 1990 with a Bachelor of Science in Accounting. She was employed by Bank of America as an independent contract software developer.
She was preceded in death by grandparents Alonzo and Zeola Crawford, L.D. and Ellen Mungo and child Yani.

Letha M. Thompson, 81, beloved mother grandmother and great-grandmother died Sunday Dec. 23, 2007.
Born in Chesterfield, S.C. (Zoar Community) she was a daughter of the late Miles T. and Maggie Irene Deese White. She attended Chesterfield County Schools. She was married for 55 years to the late Bennett Thompson. She was a faithful member of North Cheraw Baptist Church and the Belle Sunday School class for over 30 years. She retired from the textile industry to spend time traveling, gardening and designing handmade crafts. She enjoyed preparing superb meals and desserts for her family.
She is survived by six children: Geraldine (Jimmy C.) Winburn of Ringgold, GA, Eunice (Barry) Martin of Wilmington, N.C., Rock (Sarah Ann) Thompson of Cheraw, S.C., David E. Thompson of Cheraw, S.C., Charles (Carol) Thompson of Jackson, MI, Terri (Mike) Garrell of Cheraw, S.C. In addition to her loving children she leaves behind eleven grandchildren: Gerri Stancil, Patti Raines, Jeff Martin, Sondra Johnson, Adam Thompson, Miles Thompson, Ashley Thompson, Ben Thompson, Staci Thompson, Melissa Garwood and Brooke Rodgers. Letha was blessed with eight great-grandchildren. Also, she is survived by a sister Juliette Douglas of Cheraw, S.C.

Blakeney, born in Chesterfield County, was a daughter of the late Esau and Dora Blackwell Tyson. She was a faithful member of Mt. Harmon Baptist Church who was active on the Usher Board, Choir and Missionary. She was co-founder of the Tyson-Blackwell Family Reunion and held the position of President for over 35 years.
She was preceded in death by husband James F. Blakeney; four brothers and two sisters.
Surviving are sons Joe Blakeney of Washington,D.C. and Billy Blakeney of Mt. Croghan; daughter Valeria (Mickey) Baker of Mt. Croghan; brother John Davis Tyson of Mt. Croghan; two children she raised Terry (Ralph) Gladden of Chester, S.C. and Alex Watson of W. Columbia, S.C.; seven grandchildren and ten great grandchildren; many nephews, nieces, cousins, other relatives and dear friends.

He returned to Cheraw and resumed his membership at Grandview Presbyterian Church, Chesterfield where he remained an active Elder. He moved to Pageland in 2007 and attended Pageland Second Presbyterian Church. His Masonic affiliations included being a Past Master of Acacia Lodge #32, Alexandria, Va., King Cyrus Royal Arch, Virginia Jurisdiction, Past Potentate of Magna Temple #3 Alexandria, Va. and Albahr Temple #178 Camden, S.C.
He was preceded in death by sisters Idell Byrd and Sarah Taylor; brothers Roy, James, Bill and Henry Wadsworth.

Benenhaley, born in Dalzell, S.C., was a son of the late Hamilton and Harriet Lowery Benenhaley. He attended Clemson College and was an active member of IPTAY. He was in the insurance business for 30 years, as an agent and manager, and retired with Life of Georgia. He was a U.S. Army veteran and was a former member of the S.C. National Guard. He was a member and past Master f the Chesterfield Masonic Lodge 220, a former member of the Chesterfield Town Council and had been active in Dixie Youth Baseball. He was a member and former Trustee of St. Paul United Methodist Church.
He was preceded in death by nephew Tim McElveen.

CHESTERFIELD - Hamilton “Hamp” Benenhaley Jr., 76, died Dec. 3, 2007 at his home. A funeral service was held Dec. 5 at St. Paul United Methodist Church with burial in Chesterfield cemetery.
Benenhaley, born in Dalzell, S.C., was a son of the late Hamilton and Harriet Lowery Benenhaley. He attended Clemson College and was an active member of IPTAY. He was in the insurance business for 30 years, as an agent and manager, and retired with Life of Georgia. He was a U.S. Army veteran and was a former member of the S.C. National Guard. He was a member and past Master f the Chesterfield Masonic Lodge 220, a former member of the Chesterfield Town Council and had been active in Dixie Youth Baseball. He was a member and former Trustee of St. Paul United Methodist Church.
He was preceded in death by nephew Tim McElveen.

Clark, born in Pageland, was the son of the late Clayton and Lou Clark. He was a retired textile supervisor of Springs Industries for 33 years. He was a member of First Presbyterian Church, also a member of Salem Presbyterian Church where he served as an elder and deacon.
He was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Evelyn Sikes Clark.

JEFFERSON – Margie Arant Rollins,67, died Nov. 25, 2007 at Lancaster Convalescent Center. A funeral service was held Nov. 28 at Bethel Baptist Church with burial in the church cemetery.
Rollins, born in Lancaster County, was the daughter of the late Woodrow and Gladys Greene Arant.
She was preceded in death by husband Lawrence Rollins. She is survived by son: Steven L. Rollins of Pageland.
Sutton Funeral Home, Pageland, was in charge of the arrangements.
Reece Sowell
PAGELAND - Reece Sowell, 85, died Nov. 29, 2007 at Lancaster Convalescent Center. A graveside service was held Dec. 1, 2007.
He was born in Chesterfield County and was a son of the late Henry and Jessie Blakeney Sowell. Sowell was a member of Pageland Methodist Church and was the retired owner of Sowell Motor Company in Pageland.
Surviving are wife Betty Chesser ; sisters, Pearl Arant and Rachael Caraway of Pageland.

James Edward ‘Hammer Head’ Wallace
CHERAW – James Edward “Hammer Head”, 58, died Nov. 29, 2007. A funeral service was held Dec. 1 at Miller-Rivers-Caulder Funeral Home Chapel with burial in Chatham Hill Memorial Gardens.
Wallace, born in Cheraw, was a son of the late Paul, Sr. and Janie Mae Dixon Wallace. He was a retired gas station attendant. He was an avid football, wrestling, country music fan, and loved all animals.
Surviving are stepmother Dorothy Burr of Chesterfield; brother Paul (Linda) Wallace Jr. of Gibson, N.C.; sisters Catherine (Andy) Wright of Pageland, Carolyn (Caston) Crowley of Patrick, Ann Caulford of Ruby, Myrtle (Dean) Ratliff of Cheraw, Patricia Davis of Chesterfield, Betty Jo (Lonnie) Hatchell of Rockingham, N.C., Sherry Wallace of Chesterfield and Janice Steward of Darlington, S.C.; seven nephews and 11 nieces; loyal and faithful companion-his Chinese Pug, Star.
Miller-Rivers-Caulder Funeral Home, Chesterfield, was in charge of the arrangements.
