Doris C. Courtney
PAGELAND - Doris C. Courtney, 62 died May 25, 2008 at her home. A funeral service was held on May 29, 2008 at High Point Baptist Church with burial in the church cemetery.
Courtney, born in Jefferson, S.C., the daughter of the late Samuel and Inez (Plyler) Crook. She was a homemaker. She attended High Point Baptist Church in Pageland. She was predeceased by her husband, Emory Courtney in 2000.
Surviving are: sons, Bryan Courtney and Larry Courtney both of Charlotte, N.C.; daughter, Julie Courtney also of Charlotte, N.C.; brothers, Cull Crook and James Crook both of Jefferson, S.C. and Samuel Crook of Lancaster, S.C.; a sister, Lois Miller of Greenville, S.C.; and granddaughter, Elizabeth Courtney of Charlotte, N.C.

Robert Hendrickson
CHESTERFIELD - Robert Hendrickson, 85 died May 29, 2008 at his home.
Funeral services will be held at a later date.
Hendrickson born, in Princeton, New Jersey, a son of the late Fred Carroll Hendrickson and Anna Gonnermann Hendrickson. He was am graduate of Windham High School and Reppert School of Auctioneering. Hendrickson was a retired auctioneer. He was preceded in death by his brother, Fred Hendrickson.
Surviving are: Wife of 54 years, Anne Hendrickson of the home; daughters, Linda Hendrickson, Barbara Hendrickson, and Donna Hendrickson, all of the home; also several nieces and nephews.
Miller-Rivers-Caulder Funeral Home was in charge of the arrangements.

Clara Lee Quick Hudson
CHERAW - Clara Lee Quick Hudson, 89 died May 23, 2008.
A funeral service was held May 25, 2008 at Miller-Rivers-Caulder Funeral Home Chapel with burial in Pleasant Grove United Methodist Church Cemetery.
Hudson born, in Bennettsville a daughter of the late Solomon Ady and Maggie Brown Quick. She was a homemaker. Hudson was married to the late James Burl Hudson.
Surviving are: daughter, Ruth H. Bennett of Cheraw; son-in-law, Bobby Bennett, Sr. of Cheraw; sister, Lucille Skipper of Wadesboro, N.C.; grandchildren: Mary Knight of Cheraw, and Bobby (Sandra) Bennett, Jr. of Chesterfield; great- grandchildren, Elizabeth (Brent) English, Michael (Jamie) Bennett, Christopher Bennett and Christy Bennett; also two great-great-grandchildren.

James Eric ‘Chuck’ Lowery
PAGELAND — James Eric “Chuck” Lowery, 47, died May 21, 2008. Funeral services were held May 25 at Salem United Methodist Church in Pageland. Chuck was born May 11, 1961 to Verla Edgeworth Lowery and the late James Albert Lowery in Chesterfield County, S.C. Under the influence of a Christian home, Chuck attended Oro United Methodist Church, Salem United Methodist Church, and Oak Hill Baptist Church. He attended the Chesterfield County public school system. He was employed by J&J Farms Trucking Company in Pageland, S.C. Survivors include three daughters, Erica Nicholson, Isha (Corey) Young both of Charlotte, N.C. and Marissa Ganson of Monroe, N.C.; his mother, Verla E. Lowery, Pageland; two brothers, Albert Lowery Jr., Pageland, and Levoid Ratliff, Charlotte, N.C.; five sisters, Shirley Reardon, Pageland, Phyllis (Lewis) Simpson, Matthews, N.C., Glaris Miller, Monroe, N.C., Jona (Eddie) Hamilton, Pageland, S.C. and Peggy Watkins, Bowie, M.D.; two uncles, Jimmie Lowery, Newark, N.J. and M.V. Blakeney, Pageland; four aunts, Betty Flowers, Patricia Flowers, Lois Lowery, and Roberta Lowery all of Newark, N.J.; three grandchildren; and a host of nieces, nephews, relatives, and numerous caring friends. He was preceded in death by a sister, Melissa Lowery Gill.

Julius Boyd ‘J.B.’ Lowery Jr.
LILESVILLE, N.C. — Julius Boyd “J.B.” Lowery Jr., 84, died Sun. May 25, 2008. Funeral services were held May 29 at Long Pine United Methodist Church with Rev. Bob Herron and Rev. Chuck Marbry officiating. Interment followed in the church cemetery.
Lowery was born in Anson County on Jan. 13, 1924, a son of the late Lila Dutton and Julius Boyd Lowery. He was retired from the US Army and a lifetime member of Long Pine Church.
Survivors include his wife of 62 years, Marie D. Lowery of the home; six brothers, Albert Lowery of Pageland, S.C., Harold Lowery of Charlotte, N.C., Lex Lowery of Emporia, Va., Danny Lowery of Roanoke Rapids, Bryce Lowery and Everette Lowery both of Rockwell; a sister, Frances Trainer of Prince George, Va.; and many nieces and nephews. Memorials may be made to Long Pine United Methodist Church, c/o Gail Preslar, 8472 Hwy. 109 South, Wadesboro, N.C. 28170.

James Ruben Marshall
CHESTERFIELD — James Ruben Marshall, 68, died May 22, 2008 at his home in Chesterfield, S.C. after an extended illness. Funeral services were held May 26 at Ramah Grove Baptist Church in McFarlan, N.C. with Pastor Eric Edwards officiating.
Affectionately known as “Ruby,” Marshall was born Dec. 10, 1939 in Anson County, to the late Robert L. Marshall and Winnie Royal Marshall. He was an agriculturalist for many years.
He was preceded in death by his father and two brothers, Robert and Lee Boyd.
Survivors include two sons, James Robert (Priscilla) of Kannapolis, N.C. and Jonathon of Cheraw, S.C.; two daughters, Eunees Marie McCoy (Bernard) of Wadesboro, N.C. and Brenda Diane Taylor (Rayford) of Hamlet, N.C.; his mother, Winnie Lee of Chesterfield, S.C.; two brothers, Sherman Marshall of High Point, N.C. and Albert Marhsall (Lillie) of Cheraw; three sisters, Nausia Ledbetter (Jimmy) of High Point, N.C., Carolyn McMillon (James) of Cheraw, and Shirleen Diggs (Claude) of Chesterfield; three grandchildren, Nicole, Mya, and Brenre’; three sisters-in-law, three brothers-in-law, six aunts, four uncles, a host of nieces and nephews, relatives and friends; and a close and special friend, Virginia Anne Brown and her children and grandchildren, Terry, Anthony, Sandra (Da’jon, Daisia, Diamond, and Jaysia), and Shay (Dalvin and Keyosha).

Ronnie W. Moree
PAGELAND — Ronnie W. Moree, 61, died May 29, 2008 at his home. A funeral service was held June 1, 2008 at 2:00 P.M. at the residence with Rev. Gerald Rivers presiding.
Moree born, on April 17, 1947 in Pageland, S.C., the son of the late Walter and Janie (Plyler) Moree.
Surviving are: his wife, Claudette (Davis) Moree of Pageland; sons and daughters-in-law, Marty and Liesl Moree of Monroe, N.C., David and Marie Moree and Justin Moree both of Pageland; daughters, Kristy Mendez and Kelly Moree both of Pageland; brothers, Troy Moree of Fort Mill, S.C. and Carroll Moree of Pageland; sisters, Judy Yarborough and Ruth Myers both of Pageland, and Ollie Hudson of Buford, S.C.; grandchildren, Megan Moree, Jesse Moree, Brittany Moree, Amber Moree and Starr Mendez; and great grandson Brandon Lee Walter Moree.
