Charlie Frank Cranford
CHESTERFIELD – Charlie Frank Cranford, 66, died April 18, 2007 at Providence Hospital, Columbia, S.C. A funeral service was held April 21 at Mt. Mary Baptist Church with burial in the church cemetery.
Cranford, born in Chesterfield County, was a son of the late Charles and Carrie McKay Cranford. He was a member of Drucilla A.M.E. Zion Church, where he served on the Pastor Aide Committee and Trustee Board. One of his all time favorite hobbies was fishing and sharing his catch of the day with family and friends.
Surviving are: wife Tiny Doretha Nivens; daughter Rhonda R. Sanders, of Cheraw; sons Charlie Bernard Cranford of the home, Franklin Cranford, of Greenwood, S.C. and Fess (Mechelle) Cranford, of Chesterfield; sisters Etta Bryant, Minnie Lee Bethea, Margie Massey, Lillie May Lowery and Hennie Ruth Joines; brother Robert (Ruth) Jefferson; grandchildren Whitney Sanders, Brooke Sanders, Latoria Myers, Fess Cranford, Jr., and Brittany Cranford; and great grandsons Chandler K. Sanders and Khamyrn A. Erasmus.

Jimmy F. Horne
PAGELAND – Jimmy F. Horne, 64, died April 23, 2007. A funeral service was held April 26 at Sutton Funeral Home Chapel with burial in Greenlawn Memorial Park. Horne, was a son of the late Carson and Beatrice Baker Horne. He was a retired machinist from Conbraco.
He was preceded in death by sister Margaret Smith.
Surviving are: wife Ida Sims Horne; step-mother Arnita Lindsey of Pageland; sons, Mark Horne of Pageland, James Horne, of Manning, S.C.; daughters, Teresa Small, of Lancaster, S.C. and Margie Pierce, of Cheraw, S.C.; brothers Dickie Horne of Augusta, Ga., Bill and Johnny Horne of Pageland; sisters, Catherine Sistare, of Pageland, Evelyn Griffin and Marilyn Kitchen, of Augusta, Ga., Carolyn Herron, of Orangeburg, S.C., Shelia McArdle, of Lancaster, S.C., Diane Price, of Pageland and Pam Hege, of Rock Hill, S.C.; 10 grandchildren and two great grandchildren.

Dorothy Mullis Watts
PAGELAND – Dorothy Mullis Watts, 78, died April 23, 2007. A funeral service was held April 26 at Mt. Pisgah Baptist Church with burial in the church cemetery.
Watts, was a daughter of the late Henry E. and Eva Mae Threatt Mullis. She was preceded in death by husband Marion L. Watts.
Surviving are: sons Darrell and Richard Watts, of Pageland; daughters Carolyn Autry, of Jefferson, Debra Pressley, of Matthews, N.C.; sisters Vera Funderburk, of Pageland, Lenora James and Mary Killough, of Monroe, N.C., Joyce Courtney, of Pageland; seven grandchildren and seven great grandchildren.

Dora Frances Hancock Epperson
KANNAPOLIS, N.C. – Dora Frances Hancock Epperson, 83, died April 20, 2007. A funeral service was held April 22 at West Point Baptist Church with burial in Carolina Memorial Park.
Epperson, born in Mt. Croghan, was a daughter of the late Norman Henry and Cora Jordan Hancock. She retired in 1983 from Terry Products, following more than 25 years of service. She was a member of West Point Baptist Church where she taught Sunday school for many years in the nursery department.
She was preceded in death by husband Don C. Epperson.
Surviving are: daughters Janis (Robert) Tucker, of Kannapolis, N.C., and Donna (Jimmy) Baker, of China Grove, N.C.; grandchildren Allen Baker, Jennifer Petty, Brandon Farabee and Chance Tucker; great grandchildren Allie Baker and Jenna Petty.

Albert McCray Jr.
MONROE, N.C. – Albert McCray Jr., 72, died April 15, 2007.
A funeral service was held April 20 at Mt. Moriah Missionary Baptist Church, Marshville, N.C. with burial in Nicey Grove cemetery, Pageland.
McCray, born in Dillon, S.C., was a son of the late Albert and Odell Smith McCray. He was a dedicated worker of Tyson Food until retirement. He attended Mt. Moriah Missionary Baptist Church, Marshville, N.C. He was formerly married to Aline Bennett McCray.
He was preceded in death by brother Johnny McCray.
Surviving are: daughters Alberta Melton and Kathy McCray, of Pageland; sons Charles and Wilson McCray, of Pageland, Ricky McCray, of Monroe, N.C., and Stephon Chapman, of Ruby; sisters Cathy Marshall, Rethal Burch and Coletha Giles of Pageland and Marie Burr of Chesterfield; 16 grandchildren, 12 great grandchildren.

John Wiley Mungo
PAGELAND – John Wiley Mungo, 42 died April 26, 2007. A graveside service was held April 28 at First Baptist cemetery.
He was a psychotherapist in a private practice in Atlanta, Ga. He graduated from Presbyterian College in Clinton, S.C .(summa cum laude). First masters degree-Duquesne University, Pittsburgh, Pa. Second masters degree-psychology from Georgia State University.
Surviving are mother, Sara M. Mungo of Pageland; brother, Frank M. Mungo of Florence, Ky.; nephews, Allen and Ben Mungo.

Aralee “Boochie” Sowell
CHESTERFIELD – Aralee “Boochie” Sowell, 60, died April 23, 2007 at Carolina Hospital Systems, Florence, SC. A funeral service was held St. James A.M.E. Zion Church with burial in the church cemetery. Sowell, born in Chesterfield County, was a son of Reatha Cranford and the late Johnny Avery. He was a member of St. James A.M.E. Zion Church, where he served on the Steward Board, Men’s ministry, and the Usher Board. He was a graduate of Gary High School and was a dedicated employee at Delta Mills, Fieldcrest and Crown Cork & Seal. He was also a staff member at Flemming’s Funeral Home and an avid landscaper. He was also a member of the Masonic Lodge and served as secretary. He was preceded in death by sister, Mary Avery; brother, Ronnie Avery. Surviving is wife of 21 years, Gennette M. Sowell; mother, Reatha Cranford; daughters, Shelia (Anthony) Daniels, Janet (Bryan) James both of Cheraw, Wanda (Walter) Bowen and Kathy (Kenley,Jr.) Hardison both of Chesterfield, Amy and Latisha Lowery both of the home; sons, Franklin Sowell of Cheraw, Jeffrey Lowery of Chatnoogin, VA, Emanuel (Deanna) Lowery of Wadesboro, NC, and Elmore (Vernon) Lowery of Fayetteville, NC; sister, Mary (Joe) Mundy of Chesterfield; brothers, Dewayne (Beverly) Cranford of Chesterfield and Danny (Amy) Cranford of Woodbridge, Va.; 21 grandchildren.
