Jackie Devon Blakeney
PAGELAND – Jackie Devon Blakeney, 36, died March 28, 2007. A funeral service was held April 2 at Piney Grove A.M.E. Zion Church, Mt. Croghan with burial in church cemetery.
Blakeney, born at Union Memorial Hospital, was a son of the late June and Betty Jean Blakeney. He was educated in the Chesterfield County school system. During high school, he was an influential football and baseball player. He received many awards for his athletic abilities.
He was preceded in death by brother June Blakeney Jr. and sister Loutricia Anne McBride.
Surviving are son Evan Devon Lockhart, of Pageland; sister Betty (Leonard) Blakeney, of Fayetteville, N.C.; brothers Mitchell Moore, of Rockville, Md. and Jimmy Moore, of Washington, DC; special friend Eva Mae Lockhart, of Pageland; and host of aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
Flemming Funeral Home of Pageland was in charge of the arrangements.

Mary Quick Davidson
CHESTERFIELD – Mary Quick Davidson, 79, died April 4, 2007 at her home. A funeral service was held April 6 at Shiloh United Methodist Church with burial in the church cemetery.
Davidson, born in Patrick, was a daughter of the late David and Hattie Rayfield Quick. She was a homemaker, member of Shiloh United Methodist Church where she was a choir member, member of UMW and the Ladies Bible Class.
She was preceded in death by husband Ray T. Davidson; infant son; brothers David, Hadley, Mack, Broughton, Bonnie, Billy, Dan and Alfonson Quick; and sisters Ollie Lewis, Myrtle Suggs and Geneva Jones.
Surviving are sons William (Cynthia) Davidson and Tony (Kelli) Davidson, of Chesterfield; daughters Margie (Keith) Russell and Brenda (Eddie) Sellers, of Chesterfield; grandchildren Chad (Kristy) Davidson, SPC Kyle Davidson, Drew Sellers and Tyler Davidson; and special friend Darlene Myers.

Edna B. Malloy
CHERAW – Edna B. Malloy, 66, died April 1, 2007 at her home. A funeral service was held April 4 at Miller-Rivers-Caulder Funeral Home.
Malloy, born in Cheraw, was a daughter of the late Duncan and Ola Boatwright Malloy. She was a retired textile employee and attended Cheraw Family Worship Center.
She was preceded in death by step-children Dan and Stewart McManus.
Surviving are six children including Mary Bowen of Cheraw; 13 grandchildren; brothers James Malloy, of Hartsville, S.C., and William Boatwright, of Wallace, S.C.; sisters Lucille Threadgill, of Cheraw and Ada Stewart, of Fayetteville, N.C.; five step-children; number of nieces and nephews.

Wayne Mills
RUBY – Wayne Mills, 52, died April 4, 2007. A funeral service was held April 7 at Miller-Rivers-Caulder Funeral Home Chapel with burial in Cross Roads Baptist Church Cemetery. Mills, born in Chesterfield County, was a son of the late James and Ida Louise Hancock Mills. He was an employee of Vanguard Supreme in Monroe, N.C. He was a member of Bethune Church of God. He loved restoring old cars, especially his mustang.
He was preceded in death by granddaughter Cynthia Isabella Mills.
Surviving are wife Rita Hodge Mills; daughters Dana (Tommy) Wallace, of Mt. Croghan, Heather (Andy) Harvell, of Patrick and Carla (Jeffrey Burgess) Mills, of Jefferson; brothers Tony and Ronald Mills; and 11 grandchildren.

Phyllis Young Tarlton
CHESTERFIELD – Phyllis Young Tarlton, 68, died March 30, 2007. A funeral service was held April 2 at Miller-Rivers-Caulder Funeral Home with burial in Chesterfield cemetery.
Tarlton, born in Middlesboro, Ky., was a daughter of the late Elmer Louie and Nellie Frances Loop Young. She was a retired bank teller, having worked with the Bank of Chesterfield and First Citizens Bank and was a member of Hopewell Baptist Church.
She was preceded in death by husband Richard V. Tarlton and brother Rev. Glenn J. Young. Surviving are daughter Sharon Key Tarlton and special friend Chris Larsen, both of Lugoff, S.C.; sisters Betty Howard, of Middlesboro, Ky. and Norma Meyers, of Tunnel Hill, Ga.; nieces and nephews and dog, Rufus.
Memorials can be sent to a charity of one’s choice.

Peggy J. Bruns
Greenville, S.C. – Peggy J. Bruns, 73, died March 25, 2007 at Oakmont West Nursing Home. A memorial service was held March 31 at Westville Funeral Home Chapel. Bruns, was a daughter of the late Fred Nelson and Emma Thompson Bailey. She was a retired secretary/receptionist for the trucking industry.
She was preceded in death by husband Robert L. Bruns; brothers William, Albert, Edward and Fred Bailey.
Surviving are daughter Cynthia (Jeff) Zihlavsky of Greenville; grandchildren Matthew and Laura Zihlavsky; brothers John and James Bailey, both of Chesterfield, Donald Bailey, of Moncks Corner, S.C.; sisters Betty Winchester, of Asheville,N.C. and Margie Campbell, of Ruby.

Sara Griggs Gibson
KANNAPOLIS, N.C. – Sara Griggs Gibson, 69, died April 3, 2007. A funeral service was held April 5 at Miller-Rivers-Caulder Funeral Home with burial in Fairview Baptist Church cemetery, Mt. Croghan, S.C.
Gibson, born in Ruby, was a daughter of the late Julius Platt and Bessie Lewis Griggs.
She was a retired seamstress, a member of Fairview Baptist Church and attended Liberty Baptist Church. She was preceded in death by brothers Everett and Floyd Griggs.
Surviving are husband James Walter “Son” Gibson; son James Michael (Susan) Gibson, of China Grove, N.C.; daughter Debbie (Charlie) Gushue, of Hogansville, Ga.; grandchildren Benjamin and Shera Gibson, Sonia Starmann, Amanda and Charlie Gushue; great grandchildren Eli Gibson and Peyton Hagler; brother J.D. Griggs, of Columbia; sisters Willie G. Pittman, of Ruby, and Bertie G. Cagle, of Columbia, S.C.; furry companion “Rudy.”
