I just discovered this blog run by the Pageland Progressive Journal. I grew up in Pageland, leaving in 1959 to atend college, but returning for regular visits until my father, Mr. R.C. Campbell died in 1986 and my mother, Augusta D Campbell, moved to Florida to be near me in 1989 until her death in 1996.

In going through the obituaries, I didn't expect at this late date to run across anyone I knew. It was a great shock, therefore, to read first of Nell Roger's death, followed immediately by her son Harry. Her daughter, Diane Pope, one year ahead of me in school, and I were close friends and we all were members of the Pageland Presbyterian Church, In fact, I'd heard from Nell Rogers over Christmas. She was always a kind, thoughtful woman. I didn't know Harry well, since he was older, but I know from Diane what a devoted brother and son he was. May they both rest in peace. My love goes to Diane, who lost her hussband, as well in 1986. Diane is love personified in my eyes.
