Robert Lee Blackwell Sr.
PAGELAND – Robert Lee Blackwell Sr., 67, died Aug. 2, 2007. A funeral service was held Aug. 11 at Flemming Funeral Home Chapel, in Chesterfield, with burial in Piney Grove Baptist Church cemetery, in Patrick.
Blackwell, born in Chesterfield County, was a son of Essie Bell Hudley Blackwell and the late Richard Lee Blackwell. He was known as “Robert L.” and loved fishing.
He was preceded in death by son Robert L. Blackwell Jr., sisters Louise Barnes and Sandra Bostic, and brother Jerry Blackwell.
Surviving along with mother are son Malcolm Blackwell, of Okla.; daughters Gwendolyn and Almeda Blackwell, of New York, N.Y.; special friend Pamela Little; children Robert Little, Marilyn (Maurice) Miller and Linda Blackwell, of Cheraw, Rodney (Yolanda) Blackwell, of Charlotte, N.C., Ronald Little, Tonya Blackwell and Roger (Carol) Little, of Chesterfield, Jermaine (Melody) Blackwell, of Columbia, Vanessa Blackwell, of Germany; sisters, Mary Isaac (Al Santiago), of Brooklyn, N.Y., and Patricia Douglas (Hazel McQueen), of Cheraw; brothers Eddie (Cheryelle) Barnes, of Macon, Ga., James (Patricia) Blackwell, of Chesterfield, and Donnie Blackwell, of Charlotte; 14 grandchildren, five great grandchildren; special nephew, Perry Blackwell of Cheraw; and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
Flemming Funeral Home, of Chesterfield, was in charge of the arrangements.

John Whittie Hammond
CHERAW – John Whittie Hammond, 73, died Aug. 14, 2007, at his home. A funeral service was held Aug. 16 at Miller-Rivers-Caulder Funeral Home Chapel in Chesterfield with burial in Florence National cemetery, in Florence, S.C.
Hammond, born in Nichols, S.C., was a son of the late Hoyt Mallard and Erlene Taylor Hammond. He retired as US Air Force TSGT with 20 years of service and was a former Charlotte Observer carrier with 13 years of service.
Surviving are wife Helen Roscoe Hammond; son Mike Hammond, of Myrtle Beach, S.C., and Kerry (Noel) Hammond, of Raleigh, N.C.; daughter Linda Hammond Lovato of the home; brothers Earle (Marty) Hammond, of Homestead, Fla., Herman Hammond, of Lexington, S.C., and Mickey (Judy) Hammond, of Columbia; sister Harriet (Allan) Clamp, of W. Columbia; six grandchildren.

Carroll J. Ingram
JACKSONVILLE, FLA.– Carroll J. Ingram, 80, died Aug. 11, 2007, in Jacksonville, Fla., after a long and courageous battle with Parkinson’s disease. A funeral service was held Aug. 17 at Pleasant Hill United Methodist Church, in McFarlan, N.C. with burial in Pleasant Hill Cemetery.
Ingram, born in Bluett Falls, N.C.,and raised in Lilesville, N.C., was a son of the late Furman and Etta Crawley Ingram. He worked 45 years in the railroad business at Seaboard Airline Railroad, in Hamlet, N.C., then relocated to Jacksonville where he retired from CSX. He was a devoted member of Southside Baptist Church, in Jacksonville. He was preceded in death by brothers Frank and Bernard Ingram and sister Christine Ingram.
Surviving are wife of 56 years Helen Teal Ingram of the home; daughter Gail (Ray) Kozikowski, of Ponte Vedra Beach, Fla.; son C.J. (Phyllis) Ingram Jr., of Woodbridge, Va.; sisters Ruth Roberson, of Lilesville, and Violet Preston, of San Antonio, Texas; brother Harold Ingram of Clarkton, N.C.; and grandchildren Raymond and Teal Kozikowski, Kyle and J.T. Ingram.

Harley May Evans Demby
CHERAW – Harley May Evans Demby, 78, died Aug. 12, 2007. A funeral service was held Aug. 15 at First Southern Methodist Church, in Cheraw with burial in Chatham Hill Memorial Gardens.
Demby, born in Pageland, was a daughter of the late William Harley Evans and Mildred Robinson Evans Travis. She was a retired office clerk with Chesterfield General Hospital. She was a member of First Southern Methodist Church where she served as a former Sunday school teacher and a member of WMS.
She was preceded in death by husband James W. Demby.
Surviving are daughters Sue (Jim) Funderburk, of Cheraw, Debbie (Hubert) Wright, of Wadesboro, N.C., Marilyn (Danny) Caulder, of Cheraw, and Teresa (Fred) Ward, of Raleigh, N.C.; brothers Max, Ted, Coy, Ernie, Don and Ben Evans, of Pageland; sisters Loree Langley and Yvonne Strawn, of Pageland; Bonnie Harpe of Statesville, N.C., and Jean Rhodes, of Rutherfordton, N.C.; seven grandchildren, seven great grandchildren. Nelle Outen Pigg
PAGELAND – Nelle Outen Pigg, 89, died Aug. 11, 2007. A funeral service was held Aug. 13 at First Baptist Church.
Pigg, born in Chesterfield County, was a daughter of the late Walter B. and Wrine Anderson Outen. She was a retired store owner and a member of First Baptist Church, of Pageland.
She was preceded in death by husband Gary Pigg, sisters Ethel and Violet and brother Brutus.
Surviving are son Wayne (Billie) Whitaker, of Denver, N.C.; brothers Curtis Outen, of Charlotte, N.C., Bill (Jean) Outen, of Matthews, N.C., Joel (Ruby) Outen, of Charlotte, Jack (Vickie) Outen, of Pageland; sister Betty (Jib) Taylor, of Pageland; grandsons Brad (Sherry) Whitaker, of Charlotte, Jeff Whitaker, of West Palm Beach, Fla., and Dean Mahaffey, of Laurens, S.C.

Mildred Teal ‘Punk’ Williams
CHESTERFIELD – Mildred Teal “Punk” Williams, 66, died Aug. 14, 2007. A funeral service was held Aug. 17 at Miller-Rivers-Caulder Funeral Home Chapel with burial in Peniel cemetery behind Pine View Baptist Church.
Williams, born in Chesterfield, was a daughter of the late John Carlos and Margie Rebecca Rogers Teal. She was a homemaker.
She was preceded in death by first husband J.D. Broadaway, brother Herbert Teal and sister Ruth Lewis.
Surviving are husband Thomas “Tommy” Williams; daughters Sandra (Robert) Gainey, of Patrick and Becky (Robert) Gatti, of Chesterfield; step-sons Thomas Wayne (Becky) Williams, of King, N.C., and Thomas Clayton Williams, of Erwin, Tenn; step-daughter Amy Williams of Erwin; brother John Carlos “Son” Teal, of Cheraw; sisters Dot Johnson, Daisy Lewis and Christine Davis, of Chesterfield; three grandchildren Brittany and Cassi Gatti , Shannon Gulledge, also ten step-grandchildren.

Jo Marie Bagwell
CLOVER, S.C. – Jo Marie Bagwell, 58, died Aug. 17, 2007, at the home of her mother and father.
A graveside service was held Aug. 19 at Kings Mountain Chapel United Methodist Church Cemetery, in York, S.C.
Bagwell, daughter of Joe and Betty Bagwell, of Pageland, was the pianist at Kings Mountain Chapel United Methodist Church, in York.
She was employed at Carolina Medical Center, in Charlotte, N.C. as a radiologic technologist.
Surviving along with parents are sister Jane (Ernie) Sluder, of Conway, S.C.; nephew Justin Brooks, of Wilmington, N.C.; nieces Jessica Brooks, of Spartanburg, S.C., and Jinna Brooks, of Greenville, S.C.; and uncle and aunt J. Eddie (Jean) Seigler, of Greenwood, S.C.
