Pixie Hayes Adams
CHERAW - Pixie Hayes Adams, 55, died July 17, 2007. A funeral service was held July 20 at United Fellowship of God Church where she was a member with burial at Chatham Hill Memorial Gardens.
Adams, born in Bennettsville, was a daughter of Mary Brown Hayes and the late Richard Prentiss Hayes. She was a retired employee of Stanley Tools with 34 years of service. She was an avid softball player and was very devoted to all her family and friends. She was married to the late Jasper Adams Jr.
Surviving are son Clinton Jasper Adams of the home; daughter Leslie Michelle Wilkes of the home; grandchild Jace Wilkes; mother Mary Brown Hayes, of Cheraw; brothers Richard S. (Nancy), Johnny P. (Susan), and Ray (Cynthia) Hayes, all of Cheraw; sisters Barbara (Martin) Hancock , Billie (Jimmy) McLendon of Cheraw and Kathy Crowley, of Bennettsville.

Letha Price Ford
PAGELAND – Letha Price Ford, 87, died July 12, 2007 at her home. A funeral service was held July 15 at Providence Baptist Church where she was a member with burial in the church cemetery.
Ford, born in Pageland, was a daughter of the late John and Minnie Moore Price. She was a retired employee of Chesterfield Yarn Mill. She was married to the late Henry Ford. She was preceded in death by brothers Houston, Henry, Vann and Vernon Price; and sisters Grace Carnes, Jeanette Holley, Sarah Horne, Blake Stepp, Mary Lee Rollings, Fannie Hathaway and Ruby Deese.
Surviving are daughter Kathy Ford of the home, Bobbie Laney (special caregiver), and a number of nieces and nephews.
Miller-Rivers-Caulder Funeral Home of Chesterfield was in charge of the arrangements.

Thomas Harlan Gaddy
MT. CROGHAN – Thomas Harlan Gaddy, 79, died July 17, 2007. A funeral service was held July 20 at Miller-Rivers-Caulder Funeral Home Chapel with burial at Mt. Croghan United Methodist Church where he was a member.
Gaddy, born in Anson County, N.C., was a son of the late John Weldon and Notie Ellen Freeman Gaddy. He was a retired employee of Burlington Industries and was a U.S. Army veteran of the Korean Conflict. He was married to the late Clarene Johnson Gaddy.
He was preceded in death by daughters Penny Lynn and Shannon Michelle Gaddy; brothers Kenneth, Jack and Harold Gaddy; sisters Claytie G. Burch, Betty Adams and Judy Ann McAllister.
Surviving are son Tommy Gaddy, of Morganton, N.C.; daughter Tammy G. Hancock, of Ruby; four grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren. Miller-Rivers-Caulder Funeral Home was in charge of the arrangements.

Theodore Carmine Giantini
CHESTERFIELD – Theodore Carmine Giantini, 58, died July 15, 2007. Service will be held at a later date.
Giantini, born in Jersey City, N.J., was a son of the late Carmine Theodore Giantini and Rose Passaro Giantini. He was a salesperson in the trucking industry.
Surviving are wife Laurie Morrison Giantini of the home; sons Theodore Carmine (Alanna) Giantini Jr., of Marysville, Pa.,, Joseph Michael (Ayumi) Giantini, of Chatham, N.J.; granddaughter Jadelyn Giantini, of Marysville, Pa.; sister Rosemarie (Edward) Kierstead, of Port Reading, N.J.; nieces Christine (Michael) Figueiredo and Michele (Matthew) Weber; and cousin Michael Giantini.

Mildred Simpson Grant
JEFFERSON – Mildred Simpson Grant, 80, died July 18, 2007. A funeral service was held July 21 at Faulks Baptist Church with burial in church cemetery.
Grant was the daughter of the late Spencer and Laura Simpson. She was dedicated to being a mother and wife.
She was preceded in death by husband of 54 years Leroy Grant, brothers Dowd, S.A. and Hayden Simpson, and sister Eloise Deese.
Surviving are sons Tommy (Janice) Grant, of Jefferson, Steve (Eugenia) Grant, of Sellers, S.C., David (Lynda) Grant, of Florence; daughters Phyllis (Jerry) Zellmer, of Charlotte, N.C., Debbie (Ronnie) Funderburk of Charlotte, Rhonda (Johnny) Dew, of Latta, S.C.; 11 grandchildren and 14 great-grandchildren; brothers Bill (Faye) Simpson, of Wingate, N.C., Dewight (Vernell) Simpson, of Monroe, N.C.; sister Betty Jo Cessell, of Charlotte. Annie Lee Gulledge
RUBY – Annie Lee Gulledge, 89, died July 17, 2007. A graveside service was held July 19 at Thompson Creek Baptist Church Cemetery.
Gulledge, born in Ruby, was a daughter of the late Elisha Andrew “Bub” Gulledge and Rosa Cornelia Rivers Gulledge. She was a former employee of Ruby Hosiery Mill and the Ruby Cannery. She was a member of Thompson Creek Baptist Church.
She was preceded in death by brothers Leon, Ross and Wilson Gulledge, and sisters Mary Allen, Sallie Mae GUlledge, Florence Gulledge and Gladys Gulledge.
Surviving are sister Margie G. Sutton, of Ruby, and a number of nieces and nephews.

Hazel Gulledge Moles
RUBY – Hazel Gulledge Moles, 80, died July 15, 2007. A funeral service was held July 18 at Ruby Baptist Church where she was a member with burial in Ruby Cemetery.
Moles, born in Ruby, was a daughter of the late Archie Lee and Ella Mae Roscoe Gulledge. She was a homemaker. She was married to the late Elmer Lee Moles.
She was preceded in death by brothers Murray and Willie Arthur Gulledge, and sisters Helen Brock, Esther Eddins and Mary Lee Rivers.
Surviving are nephews Jerry and Bobby Brock, and nieces Sarah Ellen Eudy, Linda Gulledge and Vicki G. Rhyne.

Dennis Michael (Mickey) Plyler
PAGELAND – Dennis Michael (Mickey) Plyler, 63, died July 21, 2007. A funeral service was held July 24 at High Point Baptist Church.
Plyler, born in Charlotte, N.C., was a son of the late Isom F. and Margaret Rogers Plyler. He was involved in a lot of different businesses such as Plyler Mobile Home Sales, Plyler Saw Mill, P & L Bark and Mickey Plyler Trucking Company. He was a racing enthusiast owning several race cars and had a hobbie of restoring old cars.
He was preceded in death by brothers Richard, Joe and Freddie Plyler.
Surviving are wife Judy A. Plyler; sons Michael (Kristen) Plyler, of Pageland, Mitchell (Kandee) Plyler, of Pageland and Matthew Plyler, of Columbia, S.C.; daughter Monica (Paul) Tomberlin, of Pageland; grandchildren Drake, Miyah, Alannah, Ashlynn, Anna, Zoe Plyler and Jacob Tomberlin.

Rutha Lee Smith
CHESTERFIELD – Rutha Lee Smith, 78, died July 13, 2007. A funeral service was held July 16 at Miller-Rivers-Caulder Funeral Home Chapel with burial at Oakland Baptist Church Cemetery.
Smith, born in Cheraw, was a daughter of the late William Allen Turner and Annie Boatwright Turner. She was a homemaker. She was married to the late William Perry “Dock” Smith.
Surviving are sons Wilson (Darlene) Melton Jr., of Cheraw, Larry (Teresa) Smith, of Chesterfield; daughters Ann Melton and Kay (Don) Simmons, of Chesterfield, Carolyn (Gene) Rivers, of Cheraw, Tammy (Brad) Starnes and Lisa Smith, of Chesterfield; brothers Lawrence Allen Turner and Lonnie Turner, of Bennettsville, S.C.; sisters Maggie Hildreth, of Chesterfield, Betty Wilkes, of Calif., and Bertha Garris, of Texas; 12 grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren.

James Ted Tucker
LANCASTER – James Ted Tucker, 83, died July 18, 2007 at the Presbyterian Hospital in Charlotte, N.C.. A funeral service was held July 20 at the Cannon Memorial Park Mausoleum in Simpsonville, S.C.
Tucker, born in Simpsonville, was a son of the late James Ted Tucker Sr. and Gertrude Thaxton Tucker. He was a Mason and member of the Simpsonville Lodge # 311.
He was preceded in death by wife Louella Humphries Tucker, son Albert Ray Bridges and daughter Barbara Elaine Bridges.
Surviving are son Wade Bridges, of Pickens, S.C.; daughters Sereter Cook, of Pickens, Carolyn Lincoln, of Greenville, Alma Fay Russell, of Iva, and Shelby Jean Stogner of Jefferson; and number of grandchildren; great-grandchildren.

Mickey Plyler was two years behind me in school, but I remember him well for his enthusiasm and genuine good sense of humor. He'll be missed.
