Joseph Ray “Joey” Carpenter
PAGELAND – Joseph Ray “Joey” Carpenter, 27, died July 8, 2007 at CMC-Charlotte. A funeral service was held July 11 at Calvary Baptist Church with burial in Lakeland Memorial Park.
Carpenter, born in Union County, was a son of Bryan and Cathy Donahue Carpenter of Monroe, N.C. Surviving along with parents are wife Christin Honeycutt Carpenter, of the home; daughter Kristen Carpenter, of the home; brothers Josh and Jeremy Carpenter, both of Monroe; grandmothe, Elsie Donahue, of Monroe; and grandparents Kenneth and Frances Carpenter, of Monroe.
Memorials can be sent to Life Share of the Carolinas, 5000-D Airport Center Parkway, Charlotte, NC 28208.

Elizabeth Anne Deason
PAGELAND – Elizabeth Anne Deason, 54, died July 8, 2007. A graveside service was held July 10 at Greenlawn Memorial Park.
Deason was a daughter of the late Columbus and Lillie Ann Catledge Cagle.
Surviving are husband Gene Deason, of Pageland; sons Phillip Chad and Dennis Lee Deason, of Pageland; brothers Johnny and Timothy Cagle, of Pageland; sisters Pamela Pate, Sandra, Faye and Christina Cagle, all of Pageland; grandsons Josh and Nathan Deason, both of Pageland. Sutton Funeral Home of Pageland was in charge of the arrangements.

Idell Marze King
CHESTERFIELD – Idell Marze King, 84, died July 8, 2007 at her home. A funeral service was held July 10 at Shiloh United Methodist Church with burial in the church cemetery.
King, born in Mt. Croghan, was a daughter of the late Edwin William and Pauline Rushing Marze. She was a retired employee of Bo-Buck Mill with 37 years of service and was a member of Shiloh United Methodist Church.
She was preceded in death by husband of 64 years, Arthur W. King, and brothers Ronald C. “Ronnie” and Edwin W. “Pete” Marze Jr.
Surviving are daughter Brenda (John) Quick, of Cheraw; granddaughter Tammy Michelle Horton, of Rock Hill, S.C.; sisters Annabelle (Burnie) Rainwater, Faye (Marion) Huggins, Frances Cannon and Lucille Komorowski, all of Cheraw; and loving and devoted caregivers Becky Sellers, Joyce Bowers, Mary Burch, Evelyn Rushing, Tonie Levy, and Bertha Lewis.

Helen Kendall Newsom
CHERAW – Helen Kendall Newsom, 85, died July 6, 2007.
A graveside service was held July 9 at Chatham Hill Memorial Gardens.
Newsom, born in Rockingham, N.C., was a daughter of the late Rueben Augustus and Elizabeth Smith Kendall. She was a homemaker and a member of Calvary Baptist Church.
She was preceded in death by daughter Cornelia Treadaway.
Surviving are sons Johnny (Francine) Rivers III, of Cheraw, and William (Peggy) Rivers, of Chesterfield; brother Edward Kendall, of Black Mountain, N.C.; eight grandchildren and nine great grandchildren.
Miller-Rivers-Caulder Funeral Home of Chesterfield was in charge of the arrangements.

Samuel Thomas ‘Mann’ Timmons Jr.
CHERAW – Samuel Thomas “Mann” Timmons Jr., 90, died July 10, 2007 at his home. A funeral service was held July 13 at Miller-Rivers-Caulder Funeral Home Chapel with burial in Pleasant Hill Cemetery in McFarlan, N.C.
Timmons, born in Cheraw, was a son of the late Samuel Thomas “Mr. T” and Annie Jones Timmons. He was a retired truck driver, farmer and a U.S. Army Veteran of WWII. He was a faithful member of Westfield Creek Baptist Church.
He was preceded in death by first wife, Tiny Howard Timmons; second wife, Edna Sellers Lee Timmons; sisters Ruth Stroud, Rosa Lee McLaurin, Margarette McLaurin and Betty Canipe.
Surviving are sons Samuel (Tammy) Timmons III, of Cheraw, and Jerry (Frankie) Timmons, of McFarlan, N.C.; four grandchildren, 11 great grandchildren, and two great- great grandchildren.
