Bonnie James Davis
CHESTERFIELD— Bonnie James Davis, 75, died Feb. 10, 2008. A private graveside service was held Feb. 12 at Chesterfield Cemetery.
She was born Dec. 1, 1932 in Wadesboro, N.C., a daughter of Ruth Mills James and the late Jim Bo James. She was a retired Floral Designer. Bonnie was married to the late G.A. Davis, Jr., and was also preceded in death by her brother, Bobby James.
Surviving are a son, Jay (Jennifer) Davis of Chesterfield; two daughters, Lynn Davis of Fort Mill, S.C., and Elaine “Cookie” Eddins of Morven, N.C.; mother, Ruth M. James of Wadesboro, N.C.; two grandchildren, Justin Eddins of Morven, N.C. and Kelli Little of Chesterfield.

Nancy Castelli Deemer
CHESTERFIELD—Nancy Castelli Deemer, 49, died Feb. 13, 2008. Funeral services were held Feb. 17 at Miller-Rivers-Caulder Funeral Home Chapel with interment following in the Pine Grove Baptist Church Cemetery.
Deemer was born in Miami Beach, Fla., a daughter of Anne Imbimbo Bass and the late Thomas Castelli. She was a homemaker and a member of Pine Grove Baptist Church.
Surviving are husband Scott R. Deemer of the home; two step sons, Scott L. (Pam) Deemer of Ft. Lewis, W.A., and Sean G. Deemer of Asheville, N.C.; mother, Anne I. Bass of Chesterfield; two sisters, Jo Ann (Terry) Crowley and Linda Gay Hunt both of Chesterfield; step granddaughter, Emily Grace Deemer, and her two beloved pets, Levi and Monk.

Gladys L. Robinson Evans
KERSHAW—Gladys L. Robinson Evans died Feb. 5, 2008 at Palmetto Richland in Columbia, S.C.
She was born in Lancaster, the daughter of the late Johnny and Alice McGriff Robinson. She married John Aaron Evans in April of 1938 and enjoyed fifty-two years of marriage until his death in 1990. Together they had twelve children. She received her forma education from the Lancaster County public school system. Because of her religious training she joined the Cross Road Missionary Baptist Church, Kershaw, S.C. where she was baptized at an early age. Her service to the church includes Sunday school teacher for the primary class, an usher with the usher’s ministry, member of the junior and senior missionary ministry, advisor for the young adult choir and deaconess with the deaconess ministry. She was a blessing to all who knew her. Not only was she attentive in her church, she also gave unselfishly of her talents, time, energy and resources to her family, friends and community during the course of her life. She was very passionate about her work with Flat Creek School and Andrew Jackson High School PTA. Being the great cook that she was, she was often asked to prepare food for special events held at the schools.
Surviving are her seven daughters, Barbara A. Evans, of Pittsburg, PA, Patricia A. Champion (David), Charlene Evans, Michelle Evans all of Bronx, N.Y., Johnnie L. Benson (George) of Paradise, A.Z., Mildred Wright (Curtis) of Jefferson, and Linda Funderburk (Ricky) of Lancaster; three sons, Robert Paul Evans (Lavilla) of Jefferson, Jackie R. Evans (Myrna) of Honolulu, H.I. and Wayne Evans of Charlotte, N.C.; eleven grandchildren, five great grandchildren; a sister-in-law, Evelyn Mungo Robinson of Charlotte, N.C.; and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends. In addition to her parents and husband, Gladys was preceded in death by two sons, Rudolph Evans and Roy Evans, six sisters and six brothers.

Lola Louise Hubbard
MT. CROGHAN — Lola Louise Hubbard, 88, died Jan. 17, 2008.
Born in Chesterfield County, she was the daughter of the late Verge and Eva Baker. She was the second of 15 children. At an early age, she dedicated her life to God and became an active member at Black Creek Missionary Baptist Church in Mt. Croghan. During the great immigration north, she moved to New York with her husband Mack N. Hubbard to build a better life for her family. There she developed and pursued a lifetime career as a skilled seamstress. Her Christian growth continued as she united with St. Marks Baptist Church and Mt. Lebanon Baptist Church, respectively, both in Brooklyn, N.Y. Upon retiring, she and her husband enjoyed traveling, which often included trips across the country and cruises to the Caribbean. Eventually, she and her husband returned to her first church home at Black Creek Baptist Church and were welcomed with open arms. Throughout her Christian life, she served faithfully as a deaconess, a missionary, a Sunday school teacher, and in other ministries where needed.
Her husband, Deacon Mack Hubbard, preceded her in death.
She is survived by her children Mary Jones, of Massapequa, N.Y., Benjamin Hubbard (Jesse), of Mt. Croghan, S.C., Joseph Hubbard (Jeannie), of Buena Park, Calif., Willie Hubbard (Patricia), of Indian Trail, N.C., Thomas Hubbard (Janie), of Springfield Gardens, N.Y., Anne Thomas (David), of Chicago, Ill.
She is also survived by 13 grandchildren, 20 great-grandchildren, one great-great grandchild, four sisters, and a host of relatives and friends.

Jonathan Derek Moree
PAGELAND—Jonathan Derek Moree, 20, died Feb. 12, 2007. Born in Cleveland County, N.C., he was the son of Alvin and Judy Tressener Moree. In addition to his parents, he is survived by his wife, Denise Godwin Moree of Pageland; two stepdaughters, Miranda and Sierra Deese of Pageland; a brother, Carlsea Moree of Virginia, a sister, Shannon Moree of Cleveland and a half brother, Jackie Smith of Shelby, N.C. A graveside service was held Feb. 15 at Greenlawn Memorial Park. Sutton Funeral Home is serving the Moree family.

Hubert Sim
Pageland - Hubert Sims, 87, died Thursday, February 14, 2008.
A graveside service will be held Saturday, February 16, 2008 at First Baptist Church in Pageland, SC.
He was born in Chesterfield County to the late Herbert and Frances Miller Sims. He was also predeceased by brothers: Getys Lee, John C., and Billy M. Sims.
Surviving are wife, Annie Hancock Sims, of Pageland, SC and a brother, Roy Sims of Monroe, N.C.

Clarence Smith Jr
CHESTERFIELD — Clarence Smith Jr., 69, died Feb. 3, 2008. Funeral services were held Feb. 8 at Pleasant Grove AME Zion Church.
He was the son of the late Clarence Smith, Sr. and the late Mary Sinclair Smith was born on January 12, 1939, in Lancaster County. He departed this life on Sunday, February 3, 2008 at Chesterfield General Hospital in Cheraw. Clarence was educated in the Chesterfield County public schools. At an early age he joined Mt. Harmon Baptist Church of Pageland. In later years he joined New Zion Baptist Church of Chesterfield where he remained a member until his death. On Sept. 15, 1974 he married Lessie Marie Little Smith.
He was preceded in death by three children.
Survivors include his wife of 33 years, Lessie Smith; five daughters Mary Ann Powe (Napoleon) of Charlotte, N.C., Melissa Thomas (Michael) of Jefferson, Janice S. Wilson (Isaiah M.) of Chesterfield, Leslie Smith (Wayne) of Chesterfield, Crystal Smith of the home; six sons, Curtis Smith (MaryAnn) of Marion, S.C., Jerry Smith (Zelma) of Chesterfield, Raymond Smith (Dorenda) of Marion, S.C., Clarence Smith III (Erica) of Morven, N.C., Richard Smith (Tasha) of Chesterfield, Eric Smith (Lucinda) of Wadesboro, N.C.; three sisters, Eula Cook (Andy) of Lancaster, S.C., Martha Lambert of Charlotte, N.C., Onie Lockhart of Pageland, mother-in-law Texie Little of Chesterfield, brother-in-law Joe P. Little (Geniviv) of Jefferson, two sister-in-laws, Lee Doris Ellis (Charles), Delores Coleman; a special cousin Betty Grace of Salsibury, N.C.; thirty grandchildren, twenty-three great grandchildren and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and other relatives and friends.

Iyana Ann Richardson
RUBY—Iyana Ann Richardson, 4 months old, died Feb. 5, 2008. Funeral services were held Feb. 9 at Flemming Funeral Home Chapel in Chesterfield with burial at Timmonsville Baptist Church Cemetery in Mt. Croghan.
Surviving Iyana are her parents, Andrick Richardson and Capricia Burch; grandparents Lamont and Ann Allen, Randy and Letha Clyburn; a special great grandmother, Jessie Sellers Burch and Lydia Clyburn; four aunts, Candace Richardson, Lorrine McKay, Shalonda Clyburn and Simone Clyburn; four uncles, John Louallen, Desmond Clyburn, Javaris Clyburn and Keith Moore; godparents, Barry and Diane Louallen, and a host of cousins, other relatives, and friends. She was preceded in death by grandparents Patricia Ann Burch and Charlie Lindsey; great grandparents Edward Mallory Burch, Sr., and James and Lily Mae Louallen.

James White Sr.
CHERAW— James White Sr., 73, died Feb. 13, 2008. Funeral services were held Feb. 16, 2008 at Miller-Rivers-Caulder Funeral Home Chapel.
White was born in Chesterfield, a son of the late Will and Mary Elizabeth Atkinson White. He was a former textile employee and a retired employee of Chesterfield General Hospital. James was a U.S. Air Force Veteran of the Korean Conflict.
Surviving are son Buddy (Laura M.) White of Florence, S.C.; two daughters, Mary Elizabeth (Michael) Dixon of Patrick, and Vickie (Jerry) Burr of Darlington, S.C.; eight grandchildren and ten great grandchildren.
