Jill Hendricks Adams
JEFFERSON – Jill Hendricks Adams, 61, died May 29, 2007. A funeral service was held May 31 at Jefferson Presbyterian Church.
Adams worked as a part-time dispatcher for Pageland Police Department and was a full-time homemaker.
Surviving are husband of 43 years Gene Adams; son Tony (Beth) Adams, of St. Simon Island, Ga.; daughter Amy (Scott) Baker, of Rock Hill, S.C.; sisters Rita Rollings, of Lancaster, S.C., Melanie Griffin, of Pageland, and Linda Pigg, of Jefferson; and five grandchildren. In lieu of flowers, memorials can be sent to Jefferson Presbyterian Church, P.O. Box 278, Jefferson, S.C. 29718.

Alva Carol Hicks
PAGELAND – Alva Carol Hicks, 56, died May 30, 2007.
A funeral service was held June 2 at Liberty Hill Baptist Church with burial in Greenlawn Memorial Park.
Surviving are parents Carroll and Alean Hicks, of Pageland; brother Cecil (Sandy) Hicks, of Norwood, N.C.; sister Ophelia (Steve) Deese, of Pageland; and five nephews, three great nieces and three great nephews. Alma J. Moore
CHESTERFIELD – Alma J. Moore, 53, died May 18, 2007.
A funeral service was held May 26 at Salem Baptist Church with burial in Chesterfield Community cemetery.
Moore was a daughter of the late James Thomas and Alma Moore. She was a graduate of Chesterfield High and received an associate degree from New York Technical College.
She was a resident of Brooklyn, N.Y., and later Gouldsboro, Pa. She worked at Guardian Life Insurance and then joined New York City Police Department where she was promoted to detective and later retired from the 90th precinct. She was a dedicated member of the Brown Memorial Baptist Church, in Brooklyn, and a member of the New York City Police Department Guardian Association.
Surviving are daughter Ebony Welch of Gouldsboro, Pa.; sisters Emma Moore, of Brooklyn, and Lillie Moore of Scranton, Pa.; brothers, James Moore, of Bronx N.Y., Donnie and Bennie Moore, of Chesterfield, and John Moore, of Brooklyn; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, special friends and many other relatives and friends.

Leona Davis Purvis
CHESTERFIELD – Leona Davis Purvis, 60, died May 26, 2007. A graveside service was held May 29 at Bethesda United Methodist Church cemetery.
Purvis, born in Chesterfield County, was a daughter of Annie Mae Poston Davis and the late James Lee Davis.
She was a retired cafeteria worker at Edwards Elementary.
She was preceded in death by husband Willard Thomas “Bill” Purvis, daughter Elizabeth Ann Purvis and brothers Jackie, Eddie and Pete Davis. Surviving are son Michael Thomas Purvis, of Chesterfield; daughter Sue Anne Purvis, of Chesterfield; sister Shirley Johnson, of Cheraw; and several nieces and nephews.

Mildred Ratliff Wilks
RUBY – Mildred Ratliff Wilks, 78, died May 27, 2007, at her home. A funeral service was held May 30 at White Oak Presbyterian Church with burial in the church cemetery.
Wilks, born in Ruby, was a daughter of the late Dennis Grady and Mary Rebecca Allen Ratliff. She was a homemaker and a member of White Oak Presbyterian Church and also attended Clanton Plains Baptist Church. She was preceded in death by sister Blanche Allen.
Surviving are husband Dewey L. Wilks; son Ronald (Allison) Wilks, of Columbia; daughter Rebecca (John) Patterson, of Columbia; brothers John Ratliff, of Hawaii, and Roy Ratliff, of McColl, S.C.; sister Ruby Poole, of Virginia; and several nieces and nephews.

Olin Lee Rollings
LANCASTER, S.C. – Olin Lee Rollings, 78, died May 25, 2007, at Kershaw County Medical Center, in Camden, S.C. A funeral service was held May 27 at the Chapel of the Lancaster Funeral Home with burial in Bethel Baptist Church, in Jefferson.
Rollings, born in Jefferson, was a son of the late John and Lena Miles Rollings. He was a member of Bethel Baptist Church and was retired from Springs Industries.
Surviving are wife Sadie Eubanks Rollings; sons Randy and Mickey Rollings, of Lancaster, S.C.; brother George Rollings, of Lancaster; and half-sister Ola Boone, of Jefferson.
Lancaster Funeral Home and Cremation Service was in charge of the arrangements.

James Roachel Eason
JEFFERSON – James Roachel Eason, 70, died May 25, 2007, at his home. A funeral service was held May 27 at Southside Ministeries, in Pageland, with burial in Oak Grove Baptist Church cemetery.
Eason, born in Chesterfield County, was a son of the late Bo and Corrina Johnson Eason.
He was a retired cotton gin operator and a member of Southside Ministries, in Pageland.
He was preceded in death by son Donald Eason, daughter Judy Wallace, grandchild Casey Ann Wright, brothers Roland, Olin, Frank, Jessie and Bo Eason and sister Rosa Lee Eason.
Surviving are wife Irene Black Eason; son James Eason, of Jefferson; daughters Debra (Tim) Melton, of Ruby, Margaret Eason, of Jefferson, and Susan Rodrigues, of Pageland; brother Joe Eason, of Kentucky; sisters Annie Eason, of Jefferson and Rhoda Vincent, of Pageland; and 20 grandchildren and 40 great grandchildren.
