Robbie Fay Burr
CHESTERFIELD – Robbie Fay Burr, 37, died May 17, 2007 at his home. A funeral service was held May 20 at Lower Macedonia Baptist Church with burial in Mt. Olivet United Methodist Church Cemetery.
Burr, born in Petersburg, Fla., was a son of Donnie Fay and Frances Marie Wilmoth Burr. He was a graduate of Chesterfield High School and a foreman for Hanson Aggregates Inc. He was a former member of the S.C. National Guard.
Surviving are wife Linda Sue Hyatt Barr; daughter Skylar Marie Burr, of the home; parents; sisters Rita (Dennis) Gulledge, of Ruby and Michelle (Timothy) Sellers, of Chesterfield; six nephews and five nieces.

Billie Faye Mullis Courtney
PAGELAND – Billie Faye Mullis Courtney, 77, died May 19, 2007 at Hospice House of Union County. A funeral service was held May 22 at Providence Baptist Church with burial in Greenlawn Memorial Park.
Courtney, born in Union County, was a daughter of the late James Haywood and Faye Mullis. She was the retired owner of Don’s Drive-In Restaurant in Pageland. In recent years, she had worked with “Future Citizens” annual portrait program.
She was preceded in death by husband of 44 years J. Don Courtney Jr., son Phillip Courtney, and grandson Shannon Courtney.
Surviving are son Gary (Sheila) Courtney, of Powder Springs, Ga.; daughters, Cathy (Chris) Knight and Marie (Chris) Rape, of Pageland; brothers J.B. Mullis, Ray (Lillie) Mullis and Jerry (Lindene) Mullis, of Monroe, N.C. and Ben Mullis, of San Bernadino, Calif.; six grandchildren and six great grandchildren.

CHERAW – Marvin Douglas Ratley, 74, died May 18, 2007. A funeal service was held May 22 at Kiser Funeral Home with burial in Riverside cemetery in Dillon, S.C. Ratley, born in Dillon, S.C., was a son of the late James Marvin and Veta Duncan Ratley. He was a retired car dealer, and lover of Nascar and flying.
Surviving are sons Michael and Donnie (Cathy) Ratley, both of Cheraw; daughters Doris (Kenny) Miles, of Pageland, Teresa Self, of Cheraw; brother Brian Ratley, of McColl, S.C.; sister Barbara Spencer, of Cheraw; seven grandchildren and seven great grandchildren.

James Randolph Wright
CHESTERFIELD – James Randolph Wright, 78, died May 20, 2007. A funeral service was held May 23 at Miller-Rivers-Caulder Funeral Home Chapel with burial in Mt. Olivet United Methodist Church Cemetery.
Wright, born in Chesterfield County, was a son of the late James Duncan and Margie Rainwater Wright. He was a retired employee of Freeman’s TV Shop and was a retired member of the S.C. National Guard with 22 years of service. He will be remembered for cruising around town in his 1952 black Ford pick-up truck.
He was preceded in death by nephew James Cagle.
Surviving are sisters Lola Cagle, of Columbia, S.C. and Swansa Overcash, of Kannapolis, N.C.; nieces Sue (Garry) Shelton, Carol and Jennifer Overcash, all of Kannapolis, N.C., and Brenda Alston, of Columbia, S.C.; nephew Alan (Kathy) Overcash, of Meridian, Miss.; three great nephews and three great nieces.

LANCASTER, S.C. – Lewislee Ebbin Gunn, 79, died May 22, 2007 at McLeod Medical Center, Dillon,S.C. A private funeral service was held.
Gunn was a son of the late Ebbin Fitzgerald and Nellie Shepherd Gunn. He was retired from Springs Industries and served in the U.S. Army during WWII.
He was preceded in death by wife Rosie Lee Mackey Gunn.

Terry M. Hensley
CHERAW – Terry M. Hensley, 84, died May 16, 2007 at his home. A funeral service was held May 19 at Westfield Creek Baptist Church with burial in the church cemetery.
Hensley, born in Honea Path, S.C., was a son of the late Clyde Holbrook and Lola Foster Hensley. He was a retired textile employee and a member of Westfield Creek Baptist Church. He enjoyed building bird houses for friends, growing flowers and an avid sports fan. He was a U.S. Army Veteran of WWII.
He was preceded in death by daughter Joan Webster.
Surviving are wife of 65 years, Christine Lynch Hensley; daughters Brenda Dillard of the home, and Vickie (Ricky) Gaskins, of Chesterfield; son-in-law Frankie Webster, of Cheraw; 14 grandchildren, 21 great grandchildren and three great great grandchildren; half-brother Clyde Hensley Jr. of Simpsonville, S.C.; half-sisters Etrulia Redick, of Greenwood, S.C., Dorothy Cooley, of Simpsonville, S.C. and Katherine Hensley, of Columbia, S.C.

CHERAW – Anna Jane Robinson, 77, died May 6, 2007. A funeral service was held May 12 at Word of Life Fellowship Church with burial in Foundry Hill Cemetery.
Robinson, born in Cheraw, was a daughter of the late Willie and Anna Jane Smith. She was employed by the Cheraw Police Department and Chesterfield General Hospital until she retired.
She was preceded in death by husband Major Louis Robinson; sister Catherine Jefferson; brothers Robert and Willie Smith Jr.; and two babies.
Surviving are sisters Elizabeth Godfrey, of New Castle, Del., and Ruby Jefferson, of Cheraw; adopted son Anthony Smith, of Atlanta, Ga.; adopted daughter Donna Neal-Johnson, of Easton, Pa.; godson Todd Small, of Newark, Del.; step-daughter Charity Robinson and grandson Mark Robinson, both of New York City, NY; and host of other relatives.

RUBY – Vera E. Sellers, 93, died May 12, 2007. A funeral service was held May 14 at Elizabeth Baptist Church with burial in the church cemetery.
Sellers, born in Chesterfield, was a daughter of the late Robert Allison and Eva Tucker Melton. She was a retired employee of Sacony. She was the oldest member of Elizabeth Baptist Church.
She was preceded in death by husband Claude H. Sellers; grandson Mike Sellers; brother Arthur Melton; sister Ellen Broadaway.

Parker, born in Charleston, S.C., was a son of Edward Parker III and Teresa Ann Huntley. He was a graduate of Chesterfield High School and a member of Westfield Creek Baptist Church. He was a beloved son, grandson, brother and friend to all who knew him.
He was preceded in death by grandparents Edward and Mickie Parker and James Morris.

PAGELAND - Wilbert Steen, 75, died May 12, 2007. A graveside service was held May 15 at Rocky Creek Baptist Church cemetery.
Steen, born in Mt. Croghan, was a son of the late Gib and Rene Jordan Steen. He was a member of Rocky Creek Baptist Church. He was preceded in death by brothers Jim, Claude, and Sib Steen, and sister Maybelle Steen. Surviving are a number of cousins.

Doss Brigman Jr.
PATRICK – Doss Brigman Jr., 63, died May 4, 2007. A funeral service was held May 7 at Patrick Baptist Church with burial in Patrick Cemetery.
Brigman, born in Hartsville, S.C., was a son of the late Doss and Viola Jones Brigman. He was a retired employee of Sonoco Products and a member of the Old Timers. He was a former member of the S.C. National Guard, a former council member and mayor of Patrick, a former member and captain of Patrick Rescue Squad and a former member of the Jaycees. He was a former member and governor of the Moose Lodge and was an avid deer hunter and trader. He attended Patrick Baptist Church.
He was preceded in death by brothers Willie, Blease, Sandy and the the Rev. Allen Brigman, and sisters Cora Goodson and Ellen Tolson.
Surviving are wife Diane Brown Brigman; son Mark (Delores) Brigman, of Patrick; daughter Rhonda (Joe) Lomas, of Cheraw; grandchildren Brent (Kim) Lomas, Brandon (Journey) Lomas, Breeannia Brigman, Shae Lomas and Christian Brigman; great grandchild McKensley Lomas; brother Carl Brigman, of Columbia, S.C.; and sister Elease Cassidy, of Patrick.

Inez Horton Kirkley
MCBEE – Inez Horton Kirkley, 90, died May 8, 2007. A funeral service was held May 11 at Brown-Pennington-Atkins Funeral Home Chapel with burial in Beauford Baptist Church Cemetery.
Kirkley, born in Chesterfield County, was a daughter of the late Joel Stanley and Elizabeth Sowell Horton. She was retired from the Kendall Company. She was a faithful member of Beauford Baptist Church, as long as her health permitted. She was a Sunday School teacher for over 50 years.
She was preceded in death by husband Thomas Evy Kirkley; son-in-law McColumn Fallaw; step-granddaughter Allison Shealy Heyward; brothers Basil and Ray Horton; and sisters Elizabeth Snipes and Susie Kyle.

Theodore E. McLain
PATRICK – Theodore E. McLain, 85, died May 7, 2007. A funeral service was held May 9 at St. John Free Will Baptist Church with burial in the church cemetery.
McLain, born in Patrick, was a son of the late John Walter and Sarah Polson McLain. He was a retired Chainsaw sales and service dealer and a timber business owner. He was a member of St. John Free Will Baptist Church where he served as former Deacon and Trustee, and was a member of the WOW Lodge 1102. He was an avid fisherman and enjoyed spending time in the mountains.
He was preceded in death by first wife Robin Byrd McLain; son Ervin McLain; brothers Avender, Lonnie, Oscar, Ernest, Walter and Willard McLain; sister Corinne M. Lisenby; and adopted sister Eva Grooms.

CHESTERFIELD – Bertha Kneece Rivers, 84, died May 5, 2007. A funeral service was held May 7 at Zoar United Methodist Church, Cheraw with burial in the Rivers Family Cemetery- Zoar United Methodist Church.
Rivers, born in Dunbarton, S.C. was a daughter of the late Rev. James Monroe and Georgia Anderson Kneece. She was a homemaker and dedicated church pianist and organist at Zoar United Methodist Church and taught Sunday School, children’s choir and held many offices in her church UMW. She was known for her love of all children, who affectionately referred to her as “Miss Bertha.”
Surviving are husband of 65 years Bill J. Rivers; son Billy (Nancy) Rivers, of Myrtle Beach, S.C.; daughter Dr. Bonnie (Dr. Jack) Drumwright, of Sulphur, La.; grandchildren Bill (Kamlin) Rivers III, of Darlington, S.C., Lyle (Suzanne) Rivers, of Lexington, S.C., Kneece Camp, of Paris, France, Rivers (Becky) Camp, of Sulphur, La., Sara Camp, of Shreveport, La.; five great grandchildren.

CHARLOTTE, N.C. – Earl Clyde Laney, 67, died May 5, 2007 at Trinity Hospital and Hospice of Augusta, Ga. A graveside service was held May 8 at Lakeland Memorial Park in Monore, N.C. with military honors.
Laney, born in Chesterfield County, was a son of the late Clyde and Sadie Belle Laney. He was a retired supervisor with the Street Department for the City of Charlotte, N.C. He was also a member of the Steele Creek Masonic Lodge #737 and the Oasis Temple of Charlotte and the American Legion Post #380 of Charlotte. He was an Army veteran.

Winfred ‘Wimp’ Eubanks
JEFFERSON – Winfred “Wimp” Eubanks, 81, died April 25, 2007. A funeral service was held April 29 at Bethel Baptist Church with burial in the church cemetery.
Eubanks, born in Chesterfield County, was a son of the late Everett and Camilla Belk Eubanks. He was a retired employee of Springs Industries with 30 years of service and also worked for Rorie’s Well Drilling for 12 years following his retirement. He was a member of the Jefferson Rescue Squad with over 40 years of service, a member of Macedonia Masonic Lodge 239 and a member of Bethel Baptist Church where he served as an usher.
He was preceded in death by a brother Charles Eubanks and sisters Jenny Stephenson and Eva Mae Eubanks.
Surviving are wife Rachel Jackson Eubanks; sons Michael Eubanks, of Mt. Moore, born in Ruby, was a son of the late Henry Clim and Myrtle Aline Lear Moore. He was a retired carpenter and a member of Ruby Church of God.
He was preceded in death by brothers Doug and William Moore.

Joanne Veronica Leviner Cason
CHERAW — Joanne Veronica Leviner Cason, 56, died, Monday, April 16, 2007. A funeral service was held at Kiser Funeral Home with burial in Chatham Hill Memorial Gardens.
Born in Cheraw, she was the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Charlie L. Leviner and the late Margaret Leviner. She was a member of First United Methodist Church. She had been an instructor of ceramics at the community center for many years. She assisted people in preparing their tax returns. She enjoyed traveling, playing games and working puzzles. She was a loving mother.
Surviving are her husband Larry M. Cason, sons John Murray Cason and Matthew Thomas Cason, daughter April Noel Cason, father and step-mother, and grandchildren Elizabeth Ann Cason and Michelle Pegues, all of Cheraw, S.C.

Born in Patrick, she was a daughter of the late Ira Walker and Mattie Lou Board Boan. She was the widow of Robert N. Polson Sr. She was a member of Westside Baptist Church of Cheraw.
She was preceded in death by husband Robert N. Polson Sr. and grandson Robert N. Polson III.
Surviving are sons Robert N. “Bobby” Polson Jr., of Cheraw, I. Craig Polson, of Alamogerdo, NM, brother Howard Boan, of Cheraw, sister Mary Lou Jacobs, of Cheraw, four grandchildren and seven great grandchildren.
